NewMiniStuff Bluetooth IN!

I really wanted to do a step-by-step with photos for this thing, because there were a couple of things missing from the website's DIY.

But I get pissed off really easily with this stuff and start throwing things so it's probably better I didn't anyway.

I have 2 questions for anyone else who has done this:

1) Where did you put the mic? I put mine right above the a-pillar, but only because I couldn't figure out how to get the headliner loose around the front driver's side edge. What I WANTED to do was utilize the existing mic space next to the sunroof button. I swapped the two plates (the sunroof button was on the left and the empty mic space w/grill plate was on the right, I pried them both off and moved the wire over and put it all back together), but after I got all gung-ho about it, realized I had no clue how to get it out from there and over to the pillar.

2) Are your MFSW buttons working? Because mine are not, and I'm wondering if there's something I need to do to get them going. It's not a huge deal because I can just hit the "voice activation" button on the phone and I'm rolling...but I'd really like to get the MFSW buttons working with it.

Overall the install was really easy. Undo the top two downtube bolts, slide them down, take out the HU, add in the harness and boxes, decide where you want to put the big box, and secure everything down. Then just put the HU back in (this actually took longer than anything else I did, I spent 20 minutes packing, unpacking, repacking, unpacking, etc the harness in and out trying to get the HU back in) and button back up and you're done!

Did you get the silver box hooked up as well? This is the piece that controls the MFSW. You only mention one box during the install, but there should be two, one for the Bluetooth and the other for the controls.

I also ran the mike up by the a pillar.

Yup I ran it to the silver box. I didn't, however, hook up the little Parrot controller piece. I wonder if that's the issue?

You do need to have the controller hooked up. My buttons work great. You just hide the controller with the unit. Are you in Cali or Madison, I am in Stevens Point, and could help you get it working if needed.

I'm in Cali right now. Thanks for the offer though! I'll plug it in tomorrow and see if that takes care of it

Yeah, the little controller piece does need to be connected. You will use this to pair your phone to the box and make some tweaks to the system (volume and such). Once that is done, you can tuck it away.

If you didn't hav eit connected, how did you pair your phone?

Which BT kit is this? I have the CK3000 EVO kit installed and while I love the MFSW button integration, the CK3000 BT unit itself isn't that great for sound quality, volume, etc..

I don't have a problem with that kit and have been using it for about 6 months now.

Ummm..I just set my phone to "find others" (or whatever it's called), put in the code and it worked.

My question is, I guess, if it's NOT connected, does that make the MFSW buttons not work? But I can go plug it in in like 2 seconds to find out, I suppose.

I just did the install yesterday too. I put my mic at the top of the a-pillar too for the same reasons. All working fine. I didn't try it without the controller hooked up though.
I just hooked everything up and stuffed it all in that small space behind the drivers side dash end cap. I too found getting the head unit back in to be the hardest part. I spend more than 30 minutes shoving it in, pulling it out, pushing the wires around and repeating. Never did get the head unit completely flush again; when one attempt was flush on the left side and sticking out only .25 in. on the right I decided not to push my luck and buttoned it all back up.

As mentioned, I have not idea on what it would do. I recommend that you hook it up and leave it hooked up. Just tuck it away.

You guys are smart

It works now. And it works well. I called a colleague and she said she couldn't tell the difference between that and actually being on the handset!

Great the parrot button must be connected for the mfsw buttons to work, then you can hide it - I only need to get to mine to delete phones from its memory
