got my amp for the MINI
last time i posted videos of my 12" RE XXX on 1800w, all the vibrations from the bass, alot of you flamed me, but ill still post pics, and when the box gets built ill post the worklog, for those of you into car audio. id still like all your opinions though.
anyways, the new sub will be a 12" resonant engineering MT, the box is going to be i believe 2-2.5 cubic feet, tuned most likely at 35hz.
i may be trading this amp for a memphis mcd2500 (2500w rms) as its alot skinnier, and may be easier to fit in my car. i dont know if this amp will fit when the box is done, but ill have to wait and see.
anyways, its a Powerbass XA-3000D, and a Kinetik HC2400 battery.
im going to replace the stock battery with this one as its alot bigger (67 lbs) and should help with the voltage drop. i really dont want all this weight, but i couldnt pass up the deal, so i bought it. when i get more money in the future and add more power to my MINI, it wont matter though
amp is 3000w rms @ 1 ohm

its not that i "need" so much, i just like alot of bass.
im just real in to car audio, its pretty much my main hobby, cars in general are, but mostly car audio, and home audio for that matter.
ive got 2 18s in my room, and 5 15s in my explorer.
i just like listening to it lol. i also like when friends get in and theyre like "ya i got 2 12's mines loud"
then i play it, and they stfu

Congrats with the new set up...I think you are the loudest mini on the planet...probably a world record for loudness in such a small car.

i put the 15 in...its just temporary, my 12 will be just as loud once the permanent box is built, prally louder.

if you are having current issues, that battery will only make things worse. An amp that truly delivers 3000watts needs more amperage than the stock MINI alternator can deliver. The battery is just an additional load on the alternator.

i know, and i agree with you
but the battery should hold the current and not drain as fast as the stock battery does, there for the alt will have time to recharge the battery. at least im hoping. a company can build me an alt thats 180 amps....i would like a 250-300a though...

Hey pimp, I'd agree with PGt here also. The second battery is going to put more of a strain on the system and not really help the amp all that much. Batteries are design for hard long power draws like you get from the starter, not multiple short bursts like you'll be getting from the amp. If you can't find a rewound alternator or an after market unit that can be retroed in then I would opt for a load of capacitors to store power for quick bursts and a quick recharge time. You might want to just look who makes the stock alternator and see what other units they make that have a higher output rating and still have the same bolt patern. I did this one time with an old '89 Eclipse I had. Discovered it was a Delco based alternator and swapped it with a Fosgate dual output 180 amp GM small case unit. I had to refab the mounting arm and space the pivot mount about 1/4" but after doing that it worked great and I never had power issue again. Of course I was only running about 1045 watts RMS, so a little less that what you have, but it was powering 4 10s.
i dont like caps, ive found them to not be as good as batteries. my explorer will have 14+ batteries.
the battery i have is designed for large audio systems, its made to hold the charge longer than a regular battery, so it should hold its voltage longer than the stock.
theres numerous people running this amp and other 3k+ w rms amps, with just 1 battery, and no issues. but when im off work ill let yall know if the battery worked.
