Navigation & Audio MINI Cooper & Garmin Nuvi 660
MINI Cooper & Garmin Nuvi 660
Howdy. My new MINI is coming soon. I'm interested in the Garmin Nuvi 660. It's important for the GPS mount to provide power (so, no cig light power plug) AND I'd like it to hook into the MINI's radio (so, if the GPS talks, the radio/CD will mute, then come back on.) Also, having the GPS Bluetooth talk through the radio would be great.
I'm half tempted to just bite the bullet and get the MINI re-branded GPS (Garmin 350 or 360) and pay a premium. I called the MINI dealer, and he said if I got the 660 & mounting bracket, they'd try to install it like the MINI re-branded one, with the only caveat that the GPS wouldn't be under warranty.
I went to Circuit City, and they have GPS installation, but I'm not sure how "integrated" it would be (the installation service says it would use the car's power, but I'm not sure if it would be hooked into the radio also.)
Has anyone gone this route with their MINI, and gotten Best Buy/Circuit City installation? I'm not installation savvy, so I'm looking to have it done.
Thanks!

Search around on NAM - there are lots of posts on this. I think someone said that there wasn't room on the OEM mount for a 660 to fit - but I'm not certain. Mounting options may be a bit limited still for the R56 - here's what I did on my cabrio (but won't work if you're getting a 2007 coupe).
Also check out newministuff.com - mikey there has lots of mounts and kits for the older cars, and is starting to get some stuff for the new cars.
Not sure if you're going to be able to achieve what you want on the audio integration - I bought a kit from mikey for this on my car, but it doesn't work well with the Nuvi output. I just plug up to my aux and use the Nuvi as my mp3 player - then you get what you want, but only during MP3 playback.
I do have mikey's 12v power takoff that adds additional 12v outlets behind the dash - that's what my nuvi power supply is plugged into...
