Flush mounting an amp under the drivers seat

I'm hooking an amp up for my subwoofer but as I'm sure we all know, space is very limited in a MINI. I don't have the factory nav option so my understanding is that their is a simply a styrofoam block under the seat, though I'm not sure how big it is as I haven't ripped up the carpet yet.

I have already connected wire to my H/K Amp which will feed the line level inputs. The H/K amp is under the passenger seat in the Cabrio which I figure will help me keep all the wires nice and clean. Ideally I'd like to make it so that absolutely no wires are visible when I am finished this project.

I do have a few questions that I hope the NAM community can help me out with.

1. Will it be possible to remove the styrofoam block without removing the entire carpet?

2. Will this styrofoam block be big enough to fit an Alpine MRP-M450? (9-11/16¨ x 9-31/64¨ x 2-23/64¨) I want to cut out the styrofoam block so that the amp fits in flush.

3. I'd used the amp for about a year in my previous vehicle and it didn't get terrible hot so I'm not too concerned about heat, but if anyone could suggest ideas to keep it cool just in case, i'd like to hear it.

4. Am I crazy for even thinking about attempting this?

the amp will fit but you'll have to remove the seat and door sill and pull the carpet up unless you want to cut the carpet out.

I need to look at it tomorrow to be sure as I just worked on an '07, but it's just a matter of pulling up. It's in there with push fasteners. The'07 needs the seatbelt unbolted with a Torx bit as well....not sure if the older ones are the same (even though I own an '06, I've not looked at this yet )

Alright, well I'll take a look at the seatbelt tomorrow and see if the bolt needs to come out on my 06 MCc. I'm sure I have the right torx bit to do it if need be.

Thanks

Kinda bringing this thread back here, but about the door sill removal - did anyone ever check if the seat has to be removed or if it's just a matter of pulling it out.

So there's no need to pull the remove the sill to get under the carpet?

You do need to pull out the sill to get under the carpet. Did a lot of wire routing when I installed my OEM sirius. The 07 cabrio does need the torx bit to remove the seat belt. Also, look into getting some spare pop fasteners from your dealer. I couldn't find replacements and they shredded when I removed them.

Forgot to add that you don't need to remove the seat.

I fyou are trying to get to the Styrofoam block under the seat, you have to remove the seat. Its 4 bolts and some wires. JUST DO NOT TURN THE IGNITION ON WHEN THE SEAT IS REMOVED. You will get the Airbag light, and its a dealer thing to get it to turn off.

Don't need to get to that block - I just need to run wires from the radio to the rr corner and have to get them through the door area along the way.
