Do we need to buy some walkie talkies or will we have a leader and a sweeper? Looking forward to it...! Glad to hear you're joining us Muffer. Has anyone talked to Mike Nacarato? Haven't seen him on in a while.

 

I will be taking the lead on this one since I charted the route. Perhaps we can talk Hal into taking up the tail.

I plan on investing in some walkies but just haven't had the extra funds yet.

Mike is incommunicado. . .haven't seen him around in a while. PM'd him but never heard back. Work must be keeping him busy these days.

 

I guess we should buy some too...would have come in handy at past dragons but never think about it until timie to pack for the dragon again. We'll have to decide and get comopatible talkies for future drives & dragons.

 

We'll be bringing two walkie talkies and can share as needed

BTW - any walkie talkie that can take the typical channels will probably work.

 

The walkies that are in use mostly these days are FRS or GMRS. Both can be had at Walmart or any department/sporting goods store. The GMRS has a bit more power, hence more range, which is worth a few more bucks. Licensing I believe is free.

BTW, I have a few extras that I can lend out.

GMRS "requires" a license, FRS does not.

Quality and capability with either are all over the map, although GMRS is a bit more consistent. In either case you get what you pay for - so shop smart and look for positive reviews on radios before buying.

Previous use for our trips elsewhere found us on FRS channel 7-21 as the somewhat universal channel (other clubs also lurk there), which is handy to know.

I am going to have to pass on this trip as I have conflicting work/training stuff on the schedule.

 

Hi, if you don't mind having another mini come along for the ride I can be there. I just got a mini s. Love to drive it. I have a bicycle ride early in the morning but can be there for the ride at 2:30.

Dawn, thanks for putting everything together for the drive today. It was great to meet everyone, the scenery was beautiful, the twisties were a blast, and the food was delicious! Sorry we had to split from the restaurant but I needed to get home and get Jackson out. It's always fun to be one of multiple MINI's. Great fun. Take care and lets do another one soon!

 

Can I please second that motion! Big thanks to Dawn for planning the outing and getting to know some new minifans. Had a great time, looking forward to the next one and understand the need for an exit. We are able to put Drake out before we leave

 

I wouldn't mind doing a meet & eat once a month just to keep the group going and maybe increase attendance. The food today was awesome but it can be as easy or as fancy as majority prefers. Sincerely enjoyed it.
