If I install a MINI Cooper S exhaust on my MINI One

Hello,

I drive a MINI One (90hp) but I 've a MTH file and a Pipercross airfilter, so it has about 125hp. Do I've to change the file (sending to MTH Germany) if I install a Cooper S exhaust? I like a good sound, but I don't want to lose hp or torque.

No file changes are required for exhaust changes.

Other question:
My brother has a One too, without remap (still 90 hp).
Will he lose hp and/or torque when he installs a Cooper S exhaust?

This weekend he bought an exhaust. I will wait the results and his experience of the Cooper S exhaust under his One. Before I buy it.

It is unlikely that he will lose any power with the exhaust change. Good thinking on your part -- let him do it first so you can see the change.

Thanks for the quick replays! My way of thinking was because the exhaust of the S has two mufflers and there may more backpressure...

Ha ha, thanx. Now he has the exhaust but he doesn't know how to install! He think it would be too difficult and will give install problems. It's probably not a 1,2,3 thing.

Maybe someone has a DIY and/or some pictures how to do it?

It's difficult at best because the factory hangers are not there. Maybe your brother should consider an after market exhaust specifically designed for the Cooper One.

The MCS exhaust system has only one muffler, it first goes to a resonator then to the muffler. Quite a few people here on NAM actually cut the resonator out of the mix for lower back pressure and increased volume. If you look on MINI2 there were some people who tested multiple aftermarket exhausts and found far lower back pressure with a one ball than other common aftermarket systems.

Best of luck, may want to start another thread about an install procedure if there aren't more responses here soon.
