>>Has anyone thought about a side trip to Cades Cove? I love Cades Cove, and I think it would be a great little side trip for the weekend. Its an 11 mile, one way loop road, that goes through a 19th Century settlement... Grist mills, barns, churches...old houses. Just an idea...

That sounds like fun Holly!! Definitely let me know-I would be up for it!

I found the National Park Service's page on Cades Cove, I'll put the link below. If anyone wants more info, just do a search for it on any engine...it should get a ton of hits.

This looks good Holly. I remember this when I went to the Smokey Mts with my parents as a kid. I'm also thinking about a trip over to Bryson City for diner or something. We'll see. A friend and I will be staying at Fontana Village, so I'm sure there's going be plenty to do, like hiking and biking, if I get tired of driving.

Here is the Biltmore When and Where Info

Here are the final details:

Meeting Place: The Moose Cafe
Meeting Time: 10:30
Date : Saturday May 3rd

The Moose Cafe is located on Brevard Road, just off of I-40.

From Robbinsville and points West: take I-40 East towards Asheville, take exit 47, at the end of the ramp turn Left. You should see the Farmers Market on your left. The Moose Café is on the left just past the Farmers Market.

From points East: take I-40 West, take exit 47, at the end of the ramp turn left, cross over the interstate. You should see the Farmers Market on your left. The Moose Café is on the left just past the Farmers Market.

Here is a link to a Map of Asheville

I plan on us leaving the Moose Café around 11:00, this will give everyone some time to meet and greet, stretch etc. We will motor back to the Blue Ridge Parkway and arrive at Biltmore around 11:30. By the time we pick up tickets and motor our way to the Restaurant it will be lunch.

Here is a link to Deerpark:
Food and Fun

We can then tour the House, grounds and Winery at our leisure. We will be parking at the Mall Parking lot on the East side of the house, which will provide a wonderful backdrop for our photos.

Some Admin notes: The drive from the Robbinsville area is about 95 miles. The majority of the roads are 4 lane so average speed should allow a travel time of about 1 hour and 45 minutes. I will be making this drive on Thursday and Friday and will be able to give a more accurate time then.

Remember the House is a copyrighted image and no commercial usage of any photos is allowed.

I just got a phone call from 2minis. He is on his way to North Carolina for the Dragon Run. I am sorry to report that he got a speeding ticket and could not talk his way out of this one. So any one leaving tomorrow beware of TIFTON, GEORGIA. They are waiting for and looking for MINI's so watch out and slow down. 2minis reports the speed limit drops quick to 65 mph without much warning. Sorry no more details to report.

I am so going, no event will keep me from this. If I am injured someone will strap me to the roof rack of their Mini and gimme a camera.

You may want to try that anyway.

FYI: "US 129 is being repaved on the NC side, from Tapoco Lodge/Fugitive Dam to Robbinsville. (Graham County) The section from the TN state line TO Fugitive Dam is in Swain County. Let's hope they get jealous of all the smooth roads connected to their county and repave their section of 129."

Actually I didn't "find" it. I customized a java class I found and created the dragon's tail timer.
BTW, you have revived the previous dragon thread. Here is this the 2004 thread.
