If you have any questions please ask, I go all the time and while I didn't get married there I do have three diamond mickey icons on my wedding band and we spent our honeymoon there.

(we did part of our honeymoon there, and the rest on the Disney Wonder )

Yes, I am checking with them about tickets, They now have the MAgic Your Way Passes, and I think if we want to bundel the Conventon space and hotel- the moderate hotel was what I thought would be fine for us. I can find out bout tickets because they can give us a discount depending on how many people come. Annual Pass members also get discounts on tickets. But I figured if we bundeled the convention space and the hotel, we could get a better grouprate, a space to hang out with all the MINI's and then tickets could be done on our own. I will display all the ticket choices and then we can get them on our own. This is mainly because some people have passes for all year and there is no need to make them buy new tickets for the event. I figured we could do dinner in one of the parks if we wanted to.

If we did two day passes the price would be:
2 day-ages 10+ : $119.00- For out of State of Florida
2 day-ages under 10: $$96.00- For out of State
For about $36 per ticket you can make them Park Hoppers and go to more then 1 park perday.

True, It was just for fun. It's making a political statment so...it's ok. Disney is very werid that way, but there is nothing offensive and is not making money of their characters so it's not a big deal.

Yo, put Minnie behind the wheel! LMAO!!! Tee hee! Or how about putting mouse-ears on the MINI?

Hey...this looks like a GREAT MINI Meet, Checkerboy! I'd like the late Oct./early Nov. time period, as I'm sure to be able to attend then! And I liked David's (minimotoring) suggestion about rolling it into the Wine thingie!

Once Sunshine MINIs is back online, be sure to post a link to it in this thread, so we can keep up with everything here on NAM.

Will do. What Kind of price range do you think would be considered "O.K" Because Im going to tlak to the Disney people about the hotel and convention space and I need to know how much is normal or would be accepted. What do ya think?

Oh and how many people do you think would come?

Sweet! I was going to ask if we could do that. Thanks!

Looks like we could aim for Nov. 4th, 5th and 6th. 2005. That would be a:

Friday-(We meet at hotel, get signed in and have get together in Convention area untill dark, get M&M Meet up shirts -Perhaps parade down International Drive?)

Saturday-(We could go to Magic Kingdom- all leaving the hotel around sometime and all driving to the park and parking together(that will be fun) and we spend the day in MK, meet up for dinner at one of the resturants.)

Sunday-(Epcot?- and lunch or somehting and final get together that night)

Would that intrest people. You can experience the Food and Wine part on Sunday at Epcot. Of course, we do not have to go to the magic kingdom, we could do MGM, but (Im not a big fan of Animal Kingdom) We could also do the Test Track at Epcot while we are there.

It seems though it could be longer, but it might make it hard for some people to be gone for a long period of time. Also this would be the First Annual event of this kind so it might be nice to start out a little shorter, then plan for next year

Comments??

Shoot small and then plan to expand the next year, this stuff takes a lot of time to do.

Also, you might want to do the food and wine festival on a Friday or Saturday night as this envolves drinking and most people will want to be heading home on Sunday.

If you cant get on the track, maybe they could set up an autocross in part of one of the parking lots?

I doubt it. The EPCOT lot definately has the space, but something tells me they aren't going to go for it.

BTW anybody know what EPCOT really stands for? (and it's not Experimental Prototype Community of Tommorow, despite what Disney will lead you to believe...)

Well. We'll plan for a small visit. Short and sweet. True, we could do the Event on Friday- Convention-(Im making calls to a few places, MINI USA, MINI MANIA, and some others to see if they would like to help out or perhaps have a booth on Friday and saturday. Then MK on Sunday. If the convention people would let us pay for Autocross insurance (which should not be tooo much) we could set up a small track in the parking lot. One car at a time ya know, just fun turns and stuff. What do ya think?

Checksie, I like your 3-day Meetup Plan! It is flexible enough so everyone can have plenty of time to stumble around the MK, and I agree with minimotoring about planning for the wine part for either Friday or Saturday night...or BOTH nights, tee hee!

I personally wouldn't be interested in the autocrossing part for myself, but if the weather is mild and I can stay out of the blazing sun, I'd love to watch!

Why not have a Sunday Brunch, to allow for the wine revellers the night before, and then people can hang on a bit or take off after the Brunch...?

I think that keeping the room rate to the most moderate level is best. If there is an upgrade option, that would be up to each individual. I'd say keeping the nightly rate to under $100 would be a good goal.

Ok! Got off the phone with the Disney Convention planner. We talked for a while about what we wanted to do. We finally got on the same level and worked out a plan for now. What I REALLY liked about the disney people was that they explained that each event is different, oh course. So anything that we want to can be done specialy for us. We figured out that we don't really need a convention "room" which is what they have at the resorts for like collecters, and antique things, but what we needed was just a space in a parking lot for a lot of cars to park and hangout. She found a parking lot near the Magic Kingdom that was like a backup place for their busses. She said she thought that would really work for us. And said it is very cheap to rent.
Now, since we don't need at convention room, we can go from the:
$119 a night "Port Orleans Resort"- Click Here for More Information
to staying at the (very cool I think)
$56 a night "All Star Resort"- Click Here for more Information
It seems this would be a better option due to the fact that it would save a lot of money, and make it easier for more people to come. Now, to confirm the "convention" I would need to go up to Disney and sign a contract that says we will have the minimum of 10 rooms payed for. Now she we should do the contract to confirm the rooms, or they will just keep booking. BUT, she said that that Nov. time slot (Nov. 4th 5th and 6th) was a very down time for them, so we shouldn't have any problem getting in a lot of people. Now I just need to find the first 10 people within the next few months that would be willing to put up the money soon for the rooms. She said we could also plan a MINI dinner at Epcot if we wanted because it has a large area for meeting. Disney also said that we could work with their marketing people to get shirts made that would be ready for us at the resort.

Also, I spoke to Ferman MINI of Tampa Bay, Oliver M, (my dealer) and he said not only that he would like to go, but that if we had flyers and/or posters that he would be glad to put them up at the dealership. This could be a great way to get more people to come (That arn't aware of NAM and such). He said Ferman might even want to have a table on the Friday to get new customers and such. This might work for other places too. If we could a few places like MINI Mania, and others that wanted to come down, we could have them out on convention day with our MINI's. So, as of now, we just ave plans worked out, and nothing is signed or anything so, any comments? I am really looking forward to doing this and getting things done in advance so we can get a big attendance.!

Great job, Checksie! This is a lot of good info, and what you may want to do is set up a Paypal account so people can make deposits or whatever is necessary to reserve the block of rooms with Disney. I'll be happy to send some $$$!

On my first roadtrip in '03, I had an interim oil change at Ferman, and liked them a lot! They gave me a free tee shirt and a nice Ferman MINI plaque for the front plate, which is proudly displayed in my studio!

If you get a good response, there may be other vendors that will want to show us their wares.

Tee shirts for the event would be very cool! I hope they have a ladies option....I look AWFUL in regular guys' tees! (Yeah, Patricia, it's ALL ABOUT ME...NOT!)

Actually, Disney will probably handle this. Personally, it's probably better that way.

We'd love to come, oh god would we love to come. But that is just going to be a really bad time of the year for us...

You might want to check with Pete at MyMini. He's a Florida shop so it won't be a far trip for him.

I'd like to volunteer to help out if I could with the Mickey & Mini event. We live about 8 miles from WDW and are over in that area at least 1-2 times a week.
From what I've been reading it sounds like a great time.
LMK if I/we can help.

Thanks, I will call both, when I talked to Disney they said the Mouse and Minnie were out, so I came up with a little simplier logo....

Something like that could be fun! MINI said to use their logo. so, there ya go...(Image low quality for uploading reasons) logo will be higher quality for poster and flyers.
