Trade my GTI VR6 SC + $$ for '02 later Mini
great points, I test drove the base. I was thinking that the base would have a better longevity and the type S would be a luxury if I could find one. I do remember the 84 rabbit GTI, its snowflake wheels, and the cable clutch. It takes a little bit more skill that a hydraulic clutch.
Just to clear some things up since your new. Don't take this as mean, I'm just trying to inform you of correct information.
Mini = Old Mini's, MINI = new MINI's
It's the MINI Cooper S, or MCS. There is no "Type S", it's just an S.
And there is no such thing as a "base" MINI. Refere to them as just MC's. Not all people want an MCS, and op for the MC instead....but that surely doesn't mean they own the "base" model. It's just different.
Again, I'm not trying to sound mean, so don't take it the wrong way. And welcome. And seriously, if your coming from a turbo'd car, you will feel at home in the MCS. Not saying the MC's arn't great cars, I'm just saying the MCS is the more performance orianted model. If you haven't driven one, please do, THEN make your mind up.
Oh, and there was a guy in Cincinnati, Ohio that was selling a red MC for like $14k or something. Look back a couple of pages.

Why did the SC come off?
FWIW, MINI's seem to have regained some resale value in the 6 months or so. I tend to watch the market and last year, a few MCS's sold for well under $20K. A nice one in VA sold for less than $14K. Now, the average cars seem to be getting much more.

The MINI ONE is the base model. It is not offered in North America. Then there is the "Factory Hot Rod" MINI Cooper. And for now the MINI Cooper S is another beastie all together.
I had the SC taken off my GTI because I didn't think many GTI seekers want the blower. It might be better to try and sell my car closer to stock instead. I don't think the VR6 needed it and selling the blower separately looked like a better choice. thanks for asking
