RMVR Precision Drivers’ School

As promised at this month's club meeting, here is some of the basic information on this great opportunity.

Rocky Mountain Vintage racing is offering a Precision Drivers' school along with the annual vintage racing drivers school.

Dates: April 16-18, 2010
Location: High Plains Raceway
Cost: $250

All the details are provided on the RMVR website at this link for the Precision portion of the weekend.

Look over the information, download the registration packet at the RMVR website and have a great weekend.

All the basic information you need on cost and requirements for you and your car to be on track are on the registration form which is a PDF.

Fill it out, send it and I will see you at the track.

Don

Instruction in the classroom and on track for three days at this price is a super bargain.

I believe if I heard right from Whitlow, a similar offering out West is over $700.

Remember to get the registration and information to RMVR by the dates noted.

It is a real good deal.

I will have an open face helmet to loan to one person who decides to do the performance driving school.

I will ask Lynn what he expects for gloves, shoes and in car clothing. I'm sure it will be similar to lapping day attire.

Don: any word what they expect for shoes, gloves and clothes?

I seriously would like to take this but would have to go out and buy everything so I'm trying to see if it's in the budget. : )

Shoes, full leather, such as an all leather running shoe is good or a nice all leather walking shoe. Good comfort and protection on top.

You probably have a favorite pair in your closet.

long sleeve 100% cotton shirt, 100% cotton pants/jeans.

gloves, any all leather or a set of driving gloves, I would suggest a nice inexpensive set of racing or driving gloves. Avoid nylon or synthetics in your gloves.

Lynn F - RMVR

Nice motivational picture Chuck... I like that one.

I posted this in the Feb. 9 meeting thread, but here helps too.

--

FYI -

Those in the club who have expressed an interest in the RMVR Precision driving school at HPR in April.

Lynn Fanque the Chief Driving Instructor for RMVR is coming to this meeting to give a short tallk and answer questions.

So if your on the fence, now would be a good time to ask questions.

He is on the agenda for 7:15.

Come early and eat early, enjoy.

Don't miss any of the deadlines, get yourself registered, if you can still pull it off.

I will try to be working 9 or 14 versus 4 or 7, so I can get some good pictures.

I imagine they will take late registrations, but contact the chief instructor directly, so you get assigned an instructor.

They are a pretty flexible bunch of folks. I will check with Lynn on his policies, if the are closed I will get back to you on NAM or FB.

Same here but because of more scheduling issues. I temporarily forgot that track time is more important than work

Well we will have some combined lapping days with some other clubs, so track time should be available.

You can enjoy and learn as you drive, some of the MINI5280 folks have some good tips and can give some input to you.

You can always tour with me on those days for a lap or two.

I just can't bring myself to track Matilda. A mental block for sure but even though she's getting long in the tooth, she is the only MINI I own.

Gentle laps never hurt a MINI, even a sweet girl like Matilda.

For those on the fence, just in from Lynn Fangue - RMVR Chief Driving instructor.

Don,
People can still register up until a week before the event, so there is still time.

Lynn

So get off the fence. I really want to see you folks from a corner so I can get pictures.

@ Mike, I will check with two of the clubs who are doing some lapping days, I hope to have a formal invite in a couple of weeks.

We shall see what develops, perhaps the Lotus Club and the Multi-car Club.

Of course, we could do an informal day on a Friday lapping day if folks wanted to get 4 or 5 MINIs out to the track!

Success

We had an interesting weekend at the RMVR school and race at HPR this past weekend.

Here is the link to some of the MINI folks on track.

We had three from MINI5280 hit the track. Friday was a good day for track time with a bunch of wind.

Saturday was cool, cloudy and cold on the corners, but it appeared drivers were doing good.

Sunday provided on track session with classroom, since we had to shorten the Saturday track time due to some adverse weather.

I was working corner 4, it was fun watching folks take the line into turn 5, After scrubbing off speed coming down Highway Straight.
