SHELLBELL no longer at Schomp!!!!

I was layed off today at Schomp along with 55 other people so far. I just wanted to give people my home address instead of using my work address.

What the heck, they don't like us MINI folks down greeting new MINI owners.

Did they forget your a bright spot in MINI5280 and liaison with Schomp for us?

Sorry to hear about you being not there. Who can we call?

Sad news - I was just there for my first service appointment, and met a few people. The world is not a happy place right now.

That's very sad news, Shellbell! We'll stay in touch and hopefully this is a temporary thing as you are the best and make Schomp a wonderful place to go to.

Wow! Ralph Schomp really blew this one. You were their face and you did a fantastic job of always putting their best face forward. I guess that they aspire to just be a car dealership. They don't aspire very far.

Big loss for Ralph.

I sent this message to Schomp...

I was disappointed to learn of Shelly Wright's lay off. As a new customer, she was the first person I met at your showroom. I think she represented the Schomp philosophy very well, and has functioned as a public relations good will ambassador. I have heard your radio commercials--Shelly was the epitome of commercials for your organization, especially at the 5280 August event! Your decision to save money by eliminating her position, could prove to be rather costly...please reconsider.

Well that just plain sucks! I hope that somehow this can be a positive for you in some way. Please keep in touch. Ralph Schomp won't be the same without you.

I think we need to keep the current economic situation in mind before taking Ralph Schomp to task. Shelly is a great MINI enthusiast, a terrific human and thankfully a good friend. That said all car dealers, not just Ralph Schomp, are in survival mode. Until something is done about the current economy and the return of bank lending as well as a change in the negative consumer confidence - car dealers are in dire straights as are a lot of retailers. All we can do is hope that the economy turns around and people return to spending. We can also be there to help our friends and family that get caught in this storm.
So please Shelly, just let us know what we can do to help. We'll be there for you.

Chuck

We'll certainly miss seeing Shelly's smiling face and her warm greeting when we walk into the MINI showroom. I always look forward to my visits to the dealer for personal and MINI5280 business. Shelly and the entire staff have always treated me and MINI5280 well. We should all continue our good relationship with the dealer and hope that our nat'l economy turns around soon. Hopefully, we'll not be missing Shelly's enthusiasm and good nature on future MINI5280 and other MINI gatherings. Let's all keep in touch with Shelly.

Shelly

I was just there yesterday getting my MINI serviced. Glad that we spent about 45 minutes just talked about everything. She did mention that she may be laid off... But nobody has a clue it would be this soon...

Well, Shelly you have my card. Just give me a holler if you need anything.

This is so terrible to hear. I hope things look up for you soon. You will certainly be a loss to the Schomp folks. :( And you mentioned 55 others... I hope my MA wasn't one of them since I'm supposed to be getting some stuff from him soon.

Sending you positive thoughts.

They laid off 55 people? Are there any left? did they close the dealership?

Our local dealer is opening a MINI-only dealership right next door to their existing BMW store next month. Hope we don't lose them!

I just wanted to say "thanks" to everyone for their kinds words! My posting on the forum was to be sure everyone heard from ME 1st,and knew how to get in touch with me. I have no intentions to want anyone to feel badly towards Schomp!! I wasn't singled out to get rid of. They did what they felt they needed to do from a business stand point.
Never know.... maybe when the economy is better, I'll be back?!!
My wish is that I still be included in the MINI community (FAMILY) even though I don't have a MINI OR work at the dealership!!
Lots of love & Happy Holidays to all!!

Of course you are part of the MINI family. If I'm motoring by myself on a run and you let me know in advance your welcome to ride along.

Just don't get car sick on/in Scooter. He is fussy that way.

I know the economy is in a dive. I certainly, also, understand the viability implications of businesses that maintain their full staffing through these times. I must say, however, that I tend to have severe reservations about the massive layoffs of employees out of the blue, as I feel that it often reflects poorly on the management. Further complicating this is that Schomp is the ONLY Colorado dealer. So it's not like we could take our business elsewhere. I just hope those laid off are able to find gainful employment quickly. Best of luck to all of you, and hopefully the economic conditions will lighten up soon.
