Awkward...

So I work in Louisville and I am sure you all heard about that wreck last week that killed 3 on McCaslin. Anyways today I stopped by Checker Autoparts right on McCaslin and was talking to the guy as I checked out. I casually said "Wow..bet you guys saw that accident eh?"

He says, "Well we didnt as it was at 2:30 AM"
Me "Well bet they were still cleaning up that morning..wow"
Him "Ya that killed 2 of our workers and we went to the funeral yesterday" Me "Wow..sorry to hear that"

I had heard they worked locally.

Pretty sad but guess doing 100+ on McCaslin after drinking at Old Chicago's and not wearing your seatbelts (not that it would have saved em) not such a great idea.

Hopefully a lesson to others....

Yes, awkward and sad. I shop that store often and knew the guys, pretty good kids.

Sh&t happens, I'm sure the local pubs will be watching who they serve and how much they serve.

Many lessons, but we don't always learn.

I think we need more tracks and other ways for the old and young to enjoy their cars and speed.

If anyone who reads this wants to work or race with RMVR, shoot me a PM and I will hook you up.

Yup...agree it is sad. Honestly one of the reasons I sold my 400 whp Audi S4 as it caused too many bad "speed" temptations.

We do need a track bad! What more do you have on RMVR?

Well RMVR.

Over the years I have raced my vintage Alfas, worked corners since the early 90s (If you want to work we have a deal for you), worked Grid Control and Safety (another deal for you) and do some photography when I'm at the events.

If you want to try out working a corner or two, the La Junta race/drivers school is a good learning experience.

Also, they have a crash and burn school (Fire and Safety for Corner workers) in March which is a good intro to both new workers, drivers and old workers. I go for a refresh every two years or so.

All the work positions are volunteer, on out of town trips they provide some meals and overnight rooms, shared in most case, but by yourself if you like sleeping single and can pay 1/2 the room tab.

If you want to buy a Vintage race car and become a driver, start with the crash and burn, then sign up for the Spring Drivers school and get in the program.

Over the years, we have had some real nice Mini Classics out on the track that blew my doors off. The 2007 Rookie Driver of the Year for RMVR is driving a nicely prepared Mini Cooper S, 1966 I believe in BRG.

Fun cheap racing and safe.
