Looking for a stock JCW Turbo for my 2009 Mini. In short. Bought a 2009 MC JCW but the turbo is from a stock MCS. Would like to keep the car as stock as possible for autocross purposes.
Hit me up if you have one available. Maybe you upgraded to a larger turbo and have the factory one laying around.
I have Borg Warner from a 2012 JCW factory built car.
I purchased the car, as a project, it had front impact damage from a wild life collision. The original turbo was damaged on the hot side, I ended up replacing the entire unit with a replacement, over $1600 on a Black Friday sale.
I still have the damaged factory one in the box, I would think you could use the hot side casting from you Cooper S. and have a full genuine JCW turbo.
have do some research, but everything internally on the turbo is 100%
Yes they can. Housings are the same. The task falls into the category of "not hard with with experience" but "a lot harder the first time"
The hot side (turbo) housing is as stout as a cast iron outhouse, how that can get damaged and not do harm to the rest of the unit is something I have great difficulty in picturing.
Suggest the seller post pictures of said damaged unit, enquiring minds want to know...
Ok here it is, the pictures pretty much sum it up. Thefarside was right, it’s a lot worst looking than I remember.
I think the only parts that are in good are the cold side compressor, but the mount on the body is cracked on that side as well, for waste gate actuator.
