hello fellow members, im about to prepare myself to dive into rebuilding my 07 JCW Cooper S, but looking around and seeing some pretty steep prices for the timing kits in order to lock the cams/crank. is anyone on the site feeling generous enough to rent me their tool kit? I would of course put a large deposit down for you, and cover shipping both ways. I don't currently see a need to own this set, and thought maybe one of you would be helpful enough to lend me yours. any returned information would be greatly appreciated!

What does your rebuild entail? If it's just the top end, you can just have someone step on the brakes while you undo the cam bolt. Then toss a bungee cord through the hood loop and hold the chain up in tension just in case.

 

head is coming off, engine needs piston/ring replacement. I have a member willing to lend a hand with a repair manual and all the tools I need! love this forum! so many people willing to help out.
