V1 failed to save my arse?
I know my MCS is spirited, but to jump 70-105 in that short of time is approaching Porsche acceleration, IMO.
And the fact is, MINI isn't made by Porsche.
I say fight it. In Ohio if the Cop doesn't show up to court, your ticket gets thrown out- atleast you have another chance to beat it with him not showing up.
See if you can instead take a driving school... also stress your participation in volunteer work, a clean driving record (assuming it is clean), church attendance, good work record, advanced education... anything that can make you seem like a "good", responsible person.
That was the advice I got from my law teacher in high school when I got a 20MPH over (65 in 45) ticket.

Don't know if this helps, but that is a known speed trap to the locals. That's why we all take the local lanes and not the express after the tolls.
My guess is that he may not have actually clocked you, because my V1 goes off all the time at the speed trap or you may have "tuned" out the alert by listening to music or something.
As for how I'd handle it. get a lawyer who specializes in this. This is NJ and the ticket cost is only the 1st part, wait till your 2 year insurance background check, then you would really be paying for having a 40 mph over the limit ticket and very few points left on your license.

Not sure if its entirely V1's fault.
Heading South on the Express Lanes on the Garden State Parkway just past Homdel, I got pulled over for doing 105mph in a 65mph limit in my Mini, as per the NJ Trooper.
I wasn't the only person on the road, but here's how it went.
I was behind another car doing 70mph, that person decides to speed up and change over to the right lane in front of a chain of 3 cars and then I speed up to pass him and changed over to the right lane in front of him, and as I changed lanes, I passed the NJ Trooper parked in the left shoulder.
NO ALERT ON MY V1.
Not even prior to passing the Trooper.
Not even as the Trooper was pulling me over.

So it begs the questions:
Did my V1 failed to save my ****?
Did the Trooper use a "Speed Measurement Device", as indicated on the ticket?
BTW, when I inquired the Trooper what radar he used, he ignored me and walked back to his car to write me the ticket.
Anyone know how long it would take my Mini to accelerate from 70mph to 105mph?
I don't believe I was doing 105mph as the Trooper said I was doing.

Most NJ traffic courts will reduce the offense/penalty if you just show up and plead guilty. The judge, prosecutor and police want to go home. When you arrive, you will first speak to the prosecutor who will review the ticket, ask you if you have any recent violations, then tell you that the officer is willing to amend the ticket from 4-points to 2-points (or whatever) if you plead guilty.
If you bring a lawyer, you might get a better deal but you will have to pay him also.
If possible, try to go to the court soon and see how it works.
Good luck, let us know what happens.
