I'll be waiting at the rest stop on 26 just east of Columbia with comet5o4 around 10:30, unless things change of course.

I registered the other day and have my barcode in hand.

 

o.k. kids here is the deal we have 13 cars and 17 people. Everyone from Charlotte will meet at 8:30 - 9:00AM departure at the rest area on I-77S just inside SC Line. We will meet with the Asheville, Hendersonville and Greenville and Columbia people around 11AM on I-26 rest area just past the I 77 interchange mile marker 122 before you get to 123. Once we have all assembled we will make our 1st Fuel stop. We will all fuel at the same place and you must keep your receipts. We will stop and eat around 1-2 so make sure you have breakfast before we leave. We will try to make it as close to Coaco Beach as we can and spend the night. We have reservations for the Palms Hotel on South Beach friday night for the kick off events. We will then move to Homestead where we have reservations at the Holiday Inn Express. We will leave sunday earlier than most going to St Augustine where we have reservations at the Comfort Suites downtown and breakfast next morning sponsored by Tom Bush MINI. We will head on to Savannah for Lunch and Charleston that afternoon for the BBQ which we have reservations at Qualilty Inn Suites Patriots Point Road in Mt Pleasant SC. Once everyone has checked the next morning please give me all your receipts and I will turn them in to Hendrick on the way back. If you are going back wtih us keep your receipts and we will stop for gas and when we all split you can give me your receipts then. No receipts no pay. We must all be fueling and staying together to get reimbursted. Any questions please call me, or email me. If for some reason your going to be late you had better call someone and let them know. We are going to be on a pretty tight schedule due to the fact we have so many going. I recommend everyone please take your walkie talkie's with you. We will determine a channel but most likely will be channel 7 sub21. Well thats about it get ready for some fun and I can't wait.

 

Oh man this is gonna be fun! Luke - you have my cell#, just drop me a voicemail on Thursday evening and let me know where and what time to meet up with you for the drive to Miami on Friday morning.

Although I will not be traveling all the way down to Miami with you guys I will meet up with the group at the I-26
rest stop and caravan with you till we get to St. Augustine.
At this point my daughter and I will break away from the group and meet up with everyone later at MTTS in Miami.

On the subject of walkie talkies, since I'm hoping this will be the first of many drives I figure I might as well get a set. Any recommendations?

 

They are all about the same Motorola seems to work well. The ones they claim for 10-20 miles, it only in ideal weather and location. About 1-2 miles out are all you can get. 49-89 bucks just depending on what you want. I have a recharger I take in room at night and plug them in and recharge while sleeping. Think they were 69 dollars.

 

Cabriopilot, you know that you are welcome to tag along with this bunch. We are our own agenda! Also we are going down for Mickey & Mini but we are leaving on Thursday the 25 and staying that night also, just in case you wanted to go with us. Luke

I just bought another set of Motorola radios (model# T8530R) on sale at Target for $39. Our old ones didn't have the sub-channels.

I just verified with Dana, at Hendrick's, that food will NOT be a reimbursable item. The flyer that the participants received mentioned that it was; however that was an error.

 

I wish I would have seen this in time to get in. But it looks like I will get to see ya all in Charleston on the Monday.
