Trip to Helen GA
#78
Here is an update...
I called the helendorf today, booked my room and asked tons of questions..
The parking at the Helendorf, is secured and we should all be able to park together.
We will get a room discount of $5.00 off ( yeah I know not alot but $5 is $5 ) If people are booked by the 29th of January. We need 15 rooms booked to get this discount. There is a block of 20 rooms being held for us. If you already booked, they will square you away when you check in.
I booked a fireplace room but it will not be big enough for all of us to hang out in. :( There is a pub/lounge/restaraunt across the street. According to the woman I spoke to, it's in staggering distance.
There is an enclosed pool, so for anyone that might wanna use it.. bring your suits. And of course, David and I are willing to share our jacuzzi if anyone wants to.
The jacuzzi/fireplace rooms are not big enough to accomodate everyone to hang out in, so I am thinking that Paul's will be the best place to hang out that night.
I am looking for restaraunts for dinner Saturday night. Friday night for those of us going up early, I figured we could just find a nice place.. same goes with breakfast for Saturday and Sunday.
There is a real working mill in Helen. That looks to be quite interesting, that I thought about checking out Saturday morning while we wait for everyone else to arrive. http://www.noramill.com/store/produc...roducts_id=336
When you reserve your room, make sure you let them know you are with the mini coopers! So that if we make the minimum requirement you can get a discount.
I am still working on a drive for saturday afternoon. So if anyone has any routes or anything in particular you would like to do, please let me know.
I am hoping everyone who attends has a great time!

There really isn't much in the way of true fine dining restaurants in the area. Most of the restaurants cater to tourists looking for "large portions" of adequate-at-best food. Not that "gimmicky" tourist-type restaurants aren't fun, but the food tends to be average to below-average in quality.
I'd recommend the Nacoochee Grill - they're not exactly fine-dining, but they do a credible job. They'll take reservations for groups of 6 or more (which would be wise).

Helen, GA MINIfest
JJo and I booked our room earlier in the month, do we need to call and let them know we are with the MINI group as to count towards the credit of $5.00?
The drive to the mill and tour sounds like a great idea, so does the pub, so does eating at the Nacoochee Grill, so does....
Looks like we are all going to have a great time, we're really looking forward to it.

So far I count about 16 mini's, not sure about people. I have some things to do for the run this week, and will be able to post more goodies this weekend!!! This is going to be a fun weekend, looking forward to meeting Matt, and Lawmann.
Matt.. will you have other people coming from Charleston? And Lawmann? How many minis and people from your club?
