Just thought I'd put in my 2 cent's worth by saying that my wife and I had a great time @ MME2007. Kudos to the organizers. We did the Dragon on Sunday and had a ball. There were a few who strayed across the center, but I just figured they had gotten too excited and over-corrected. We got to following a motorcycle and just kept going faster and faster...until my wife brought me back to reality. Overall it was a very good weekend.
PS Yes, the laundry got everything clean again.

I'd be curious to see a photo of who your neighbors were. I have a couple guesses already.

The majority of the Mini crowd is very accepting of the new generations and recognize that the new MINIs are a tribute to their own heritage and actually build awareness and affection for the classics. However there are a few out there (typically pretty outspoken) who think the new MINIs are a slap in the face of Issagonis himself and make it their mission in life to let every MINI owner as well as anyone else who will listen know this. Sadly it sounds like you got stuck next to them. Best to just stay far away from that group, as they are a downer for everyone Mini and MINI alike. If you attend a few events like MME or others, you'll see that even the classic Mini crowd tends to distance themselves from that type of person. All in all, the bulk of Mini owners are a great group to be around..definitely less stuffy than any other car club I've been around. Check some of your local events and meet some of those folks. Then try the bigger events and seek out those folks that you have already met. I'm sure they'll be quick to point out which members are part of that uptight clique so you don't have to be faced with them again.

Sadly those people don't realize how un-mini that type of attitude is.

Funny...just one person really comes to mind, as I had an unfortunate run-in with him earlier this year at the Jaxx Spring Thing. I guess he CAN be nice, but CHOOSES to live life with his head FIRMLY up his classic Mini's tailpipe!

Now that is a wonderful description!!!

I didn't get to MME, but have run into that type. I love people like that. They make me laugh. I'll be darned if I'd let someone like that ruin my good time. I just smile at them & kill em with kindness.

If you don't go because someone with his head FIRMLY up his tailpipe might say yer car's a BMW then he gets what he wants. Best to go have fun & not worry about pipeheads.
