Quick .. I need advice regarding my ordered personalized license plate.

I ordered a personalized license plate. I wanted MINMLST and asked for that as my first choice. But I had to select a second and third choice. For second choice I ordered WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get). Okay, so I still had to provide a third choice. I didn't have a third choice so I just scribbled in MINIBMW.

Well, I learned today that my first two choices have already been taken meaning my third choice will be honored. Actually, I worry that MINIBMW might come across as a bit pretentious.

Should I call the state office and cancel or do you think MINIBMW makes for a viable license plate for my new MCS?

Personalized plates are, well, personal. If MINIBMW does it for you, keep it! If I saw it on a MINI, I'd think it was pretty hot myself...

Sounds like you're already having second thoughts.

I'd pull the plug.

Hmm, MINIBMW sounds sort of like the Mini Me of BMWs.

How about-

CUTEBMW

ACTULSZ

MINISZE

MINIKAR

2K7MINI

CUTEMCS

In my area you can go online and search the personalized plate list and see if something is available or not in realtime. Neat huh?

In CAL you can go to DMV website and it will let you know what plates are taken.

Then don't pick something else. or if you submit a form don't add a 2nd or 3rd choice

If you paid for the plate & you dont want it isn't assigned till you turn in the old plate .
So you may do that and have made a donation to DMV

Different folks visit different forums. As it stands, the R56 postings before you merged them came across mostly as positive, the R53 responses were somewhat negative, the General postings seemed fairly neutral. It was an interesting study.

But, then again, there's rule #3. Hadn't remembered reading that one.

Today I saw MINZILA. My favorite so far.

Yikes, I didn't realize asking opinions about a personalized plate (which is, after all, a personal preference) would be intended as a social experiment. Hm! I wouldn't have imagined something like that would dredge up the R53/R56 thing.

In any case, I also have a personalized plate and was lucky enough to be able to go online to see what was available first. I had three choices that I really liked and would not have settled for something other than those choices. For me, personally, I had to really want to see it on the back of my MINI every day. So my opinion is that if you like it, and will be happy seeing it on the car every day, go with it! Who cares what others think?

Mine is PINTSIZE, and I'm sure lots of people think it's stupid or whatever, but it was my choice, not theirs. Go with your gut, whichever way it is leaning!

I don't like it, but I don't think many people liked my "MERBR" plates. If you like it, keep it.

Here in GA we were given the 3 choice route. I preempted that by callilng the DMV and had them look up if my choice was available. Thankfully it was and now I have 'ONRA1LS'. Most people dont get it but I like it and car people do get it. It sounds like you are hesitating, if you arent sure then dont get it and order something else.

I did that in MD, too. Here, you have to send them an email with up to 4 names and they will tell you which is/are available.

I plan to get hold of DMV today, hopefully I'm on time, and ask that MINIBMW be replaced by CONBRIO (a music term that means, with spirit). As a second choice, also a music term, would be BRAVURA which means, A performance of extraordinary virtuosity.

Sounds to me that you got the best of the 3 choices. Keep it for a year and if you really don't like it just don't renew it.

Yes, they do visit different forums... and this one is the forum intended for everyone, regardless of MINI model type. We're trying to encourage everyone to be part of the larger MINI community by including this forum in their daily routine. That means that obvious non-model-specific threads will be moved here. It seems to be catching on, and that's a good thing, because we should all try to remain one community as much as we can!

Yep, now you know.

Incidentally you can still do the "study" by asking people to state what model they have when they give their answers. Also, you can simply look at people's signatures, although admittedly not everyone uses that to state what they have (yourself included!).

I really like those two music-related choices. Very original, and quite appropriate!

That's exactly what I'm working on this morning. My one year renewal just arrived. It's hard to name a car at the moment you sign the papers! I used one of my nicknames (EXIRA K) for the first set of plates. People read it wrong (EXTRA K) all the time and it made me nuts. It's also MY name, not the car. Here in WI we have the three choice thing. We can't check online, but, I just called the DOT. Two of my three choices are available. Now I just need to decide on which spelling I like best: CHEKERS or CHEQQRS ? Any thoughts out there? I'd appreciate input. I'm leaning one way and my husband is leaning the other. Or other spelling options? By the way CHECKRS was taken already.

I personally like "Chekers". Remember how many times you had to explain your "other" plate when people read it wrong? Same with Cheqqrs...

It's hard to believe some states still don't offer online services for the DMV. It's soooo convenient just to log in and play with all the different options for personalized plates, see what's available, and be "inspired".

My husband and I ended up getting:

I GO ZUM - on his '04 MCS and,
IGOZUM2 - on my '06 MCSC

We like them alot...but we've been asked (on 2 occasions)...isn't the "zoom zoom" theme a Mazda thing?
