R50/53 Best wheels/tires for winter driving?
I picked up my Mini 3 days ago. I love it. Very fun.
I'm sorry if this is old topic. I live in the frozen north. Winter comes early and stays late. I have the 17" S Lites with performance tires. What is my best option for winter driving? 15" vs. 16" vs. 17" wheels? Any advise on best dedicated snow tire that would not kill the handlng is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

My Pirelli P500, are GREAT for winter... If you're in to power slides....
You could get away with an all-season or winter tire, even in a 225 on your current rims. I'm just thinking about getting a new set of wheels with winter tires, and just switch them as the seasons change!

Bridgestone Blizzaks, those are the only two words you need to remember when the time comes to order snow/ice tires. My current and soon to be rarely driven
car is a 1998 Ford Crown Victoria, I live in a very hilly part of CT and never had problems getting around in the lead slead with the Blizzaks, they are to winter what my Firehawk SZ50s are to summer tires. Just remember to get a taller thinner tire, so the 15 inch wheels may be your best bet.
My baby will be safely indoors whenever there is snow/ice/salt/sand on the road, so most of the winter will be a big :nonono: when it comes to driving the Mini.
