JCW Suspension on an MCSc
JCW Suspension on an MCSc
OK, I've read this on another post......
Now - there is one JCW Component that you CANNOT get for the Cabrio - the Suspension Kit. I tried to get my SA to install it to no avail - the weight and balance of the cabrio is different enough that they don't feel comfortable enough that it is tuned for the cabrio.
But, is the balance that different on an MCSc. I mean really, the Hardtop with a JCW Suspension doesn't say to not allow 2 people to ride in the back seat as it will throw off the balance. Does anyone have the F/R weight percentages for Hardtop vs. Cabrio?
What does the Cabrio add in weight, 200lbs. Heck, that is my 2 cousins riding in the back of a Hardtop?
Other than this, will they actually fit??

Brent, I believe the reluctance of your SA, and of MINI, to certify the JCW suspension for the Cabrio has less to do with weight and balance, but more so the inherent weakness of a cabrio chassis. With no roof to enhance the structural stability, and just a floorpan and rockers, a vehicle is prone to more twisting and bending forces. Add into the mix a stiffer, less forgiving suspension, I think you might see many potential complaints/warranty issues arise!! That being said, what is to prevent you from ordering it from another dealer, and installing it yourself, if you were so inclined?
I wholeheartedly agree! The GP has to use the same shocks and it is 200lbs lighter with no rear seat. I think a 200lb heavier convertible isn't THAT different. I agree that MINI is probably concerned that the stiffer shocks "could" cause more squeeks and rattles and warranty complaints.
