Ok, I was totally spoiled with my R53 that I purchased last year. There were sooooo many options and Mods available. Now that I have a R56 I am going nuts looking for things to do to it with no avail. I had to order H&R srpings from Germany since NO ONE seems to have them here in the US. I had a custom cat back exhaust done and thats it. I check the Vendors daily for updates. :impatient

Am I the only one? I cant wait for boost controler, CAI, ECU , maybe bigger turbo. ETC.

By the way. I know I am being impatient and many vendors are currenty working on these things. I just miss the availability of options that the R53 had.

Its the joy of being on the forefront of innovation and experimentation... at least thats what i tell myself. Until then these things start hitting the markets I will be working on basic cosmetic mods

You wait. In time there will be more Mods and add ons for the R56 than there is/was for the R53.

No Mike, you're definitely not the only one chomping at the bit! I'm already getting antsy for a standalone ECU; and trying really hard not to buy a new Turbo and fabricate it in.

The fact that the new S is Turbocharged and not Supercharged makes for much easier power upgrades.

Give us vendors a few months and we will have products ready for you. I know that you don't want us to rush a product to market that could be much better if we just took alittle more time to plan, test and refine it.

Wow, you can't even upgrade your sig from to the R56, I guess there really are no mods. LOL
You better hurry Mike because you know I'm saving my penny's for a Turbo only R53.
To be honest, even with all my mods I'm a little nervous on how fast your stock 07 is.

That is not turning out to be the case with the r-56 back on the home front . The 11.5 compression ratio is already getting a lot out of that power plant and those that have tried to get more have some nice aluminum art work to bring home to the kiddies. It will come but not as easy as was first suspected. The r-53 is going on its 5th year and the time to catch up mod wise for the r-56 will be substantial .

Bigger Turbo??? Come on guys. Use a little finesse. Remember Kas Kastner pulling a head to shave it, port it and reattach for a few measily hp. Tuning should be about making the most with what you have (IMHO). If you're going to bail on the WAY-COOL-zero-lag-mongo-low-end-torque twin scroll turbo in leu of a MONSTER Garret turbo that's sitting on the bench of your your local Uncle Ben's shop, you might as well tear out your MINI's heart and drop in an STI motor, along with the extensive fabrication you'll do to the entire chassis.

And as for the original post, you can get a shorty antenna. You can get coilovers. You can get bigger brakes (most likely since they're a carryover of JCWs, but why bother). You can do graphics, and wheels. You can do seats, (MINI and aftermarket never really did anything special there for US, so it's no harder on R56). I added air horns. Use your imagination. Here's a simple safety mod I did right away.

Yep, my list of things to do to my car is already getting lengthy and I don't even have the car YET! ARRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!

1) Replace speakers in HiFi with better Focal.
2) Add rear sway bar
3) Add front strut brace
4) Replace seat covers
5) Fabricate and replace cup holders
6) Fabricate and replace center arm rest
7) Fabricate and replace air intake box
8) Fabricate and replace a number of dash parts with brushed aluminum (i.e. buttons, handles...)

Various engine stuff is going to wait until I can get some parts and see about making lighter and/or stronger parts. I have another whole list of items in that category.

Ahh. I want to make sure there is adequate insulation. If not, I'll blow some liquid urethane foam up there.

And I want to explore speaker, lights, and LCD panel mounting. I may have cause to make a new headliner if need be and I will be able to use the original one to make a mold. Same with the door panels actually.

I can relate to your "mod bug" but check this out. I had my custom exhaust done today and guess what, its a quality ss system using a Magnaflow muffler and a tip from Pypes and is FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS LESS than the one from Milltek That FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS can go towards the first CAI that's available that will NOT throw a CEL and/or a dyno tune of the ECU, something will yield HUGE gains for sure. The future is bright for our cars...now, where are my shades

Anxiously waiting for someone to learn to speak the ECU’s language…that low-midrange boost dip is a real headscratcher!

Amen!

ECU hackers out there: 16psig from boost threshold to redline with no roller coaster ride boost controller is the ticket, make it happen!
