Part 1 is now in the books and it was another great event hosted by our friends at Redwood Empire Mini Enthusiasts (REME). As usual, they laid out a fun route of twisty roads and fabulous scenery.
Glenn Weaver showed up driving is new 2007 MINI. And he was not shy about pointing out the new features in this year's model.
Melissa Nicholas was joined by several other convertable MINIs, but hers was sporting her new aero package. Nice!
Norm and Jesse Nelson graciously allowed us to take a rest break at their home toward the end of a long day of "aggressive" driving. We didn't quite fill up their driveway with MINIs, but it was still an impressive sight--more than 20 by my count.
The catered BBQ on Mt. Shasta was a real treat with linen covered tables nestled among the trees and row upon row of MINIs parked in a nearby clearing. We even got to celebrate Norm's birthday up there on the mountain. Jesse had a cake made with a picture of a MINI on it. What could be better?!
So now it's time to seriously consider Part 2 of the 2007 REME Mountain Tour. I urge my fellow Sierra Nevada Mini Cooper members to sign up now before all the rooms are booked. Yosemite is a natural wonder in our back yards and should not be missed.
