Noob question on production date

I ordered my MCS on 4/05...dealer mentioned a May production date, but I have not seen anything beyond getting a production number. How long does it take to get a firm production date from the time that the order is placed in the computer? After that...figure about 6 weeks until I get the car?

Thanks!!!

It took me a couple of days to get the production number from the dealer and another 3 days for the correct configuration to show up on the MINIUSA Owner's Lounge

Once you get a production number you can go to the owners lounge on the MINI site and get a better idea of when the car will be built, etc. Production dates vary from dealer to dealer because they are alocated production slots, and they put orders in based on their alocation.

Some dealers (The busier ones) have alocated out production slots 3-4 months away. It all depends. You can also call 1-866-Ask-Mini. They ususally have a more up to date idea of what's going on with the car than the website. Good luck!

Mine took three weeks before it went into production. From reading numerous threads that's about average. If you live where there is no waiting list it can be quicker. I put a deposit down in Feb 06 and was one of the earliest to get a production number at my dealership in the Seattle Area. This dealership has very long wait times. MSs are really order takers.

Took me about a week and a half from ordering before I got it scheduled for production.

Welp, if you need to attend the "Skuzzy School-o-Whine", then you need to make your reservation, early, and often, as slots are filling quickly. There you will be taught the fine art of whining incessantly. You will be schooled by the finest whiners your money can buy. You will learn how to apply your whine with finesse and gusto, all the while not irritating the other people around you! Or if you like to irritate, we can teach you thaat as well! Lab costs and materials are your responsibility. We are not accredited, but that is something else you can whine about!

I got my production number pretty quick. Then I went a month sitting "On Order", and just last weekend, I GOT SCHEDULED FOR PRODUCTION!!! WOOT!! Oh yeah baaaaabyyyyy! It's on now!
