OEM leatherette replacement
OEM leatherette replacement
The leatherette seat cover on my bottom cushion of my drivers seat in my 02 MCS is torn on the side. I have live with the tear for a couple years (it towards the back and side of the seat) but is is starting to grow. I am starting to look into replacing the seat cover. with an OEM leatherette seat cover.
Does anyone have any idea how difficult this could turn out to be?

If you can get your hands on one I don't think it's that hard. I replaced the bottom seat cover on a Mack truck that I used to drive and other than actually getting the seat out of the vehicle, it was a piece of cake. Unless Mini did something totally different, the seat cover itself is held on by metal rings. Spread or cut the rings, pull the seat cover off then put the new cover on and close the new rings with a pair of channel lock pliers. Best of luck to ya!
I can't say about the leatherette - but I know that the MINI accessory cloth seat covers were absolute torture to get on!
Is there an orderable part number for the leatherette? If so, it can't be all that bad to replace. But, for your sake, I hope it is easier than those darn covers!
