Who has the earliest build date?

My 2002 D/S MCS was built on 1/16/2002. Serial # 168. The door jam says 1/02 but I was lucky enough to grab the build sheet from the prep guys before they tossed it. It says 1/16/02 and list all options on car. This was a pre-spec dealer demo that I purchased at list price with 2700 miles on it. I didn't want to wait to order when this car pretty much was the way I would've ordered it anyway. The dealer extended the warranty by 5k miles. Anyone else driving a pre-spec? This car has been extremely trouble free with only a couple of minor issues. It now has 61k on the clock. Maybe if I hold on to it long enough, this may play into the value of it.

left my deposit on Nov. 20 , 2001 , but I was already number 137. Took delivery on July 31, 2002 , door jam decal says car is a june, 2002 build. You got me beat by a mile. I've got roughly 92 k on the car today.interestingly enough, it's also a DS/W car and so far the only one I've ever seen with R88 wheels( specced with these)

I've never seen those wheels before, very cool. I can remember when you could go a whole month without seeing another MINI.

I'm a 1951 build. I've had a few recalls, one for a gall bladder & one for a busted appendix. I'm sure there are TSB's that I don't know about too. I won't post my VIN, identity theft & all.

yeah, I remember seeing the first *other* one right after I picked mine up, I'm not sure to this day who was more exited That being said, I had waited about 8 of the 10 months when I was rolling down my Street and saw a PS/B parked about 4 doors down from mine and this when there were supposedly no cars yet in the country.I stopped (hard) and got out and was looking it over when the owner came out of the house it was parked in front of . "Hey" said I
"how come you got this so early?" "Actually we got 5 of them" (that's me).

turns out he works for Turner Motor Sports a BMW tuner in Amesbury Ma. and they had some kind of "connection" with a soon to be MINI, BMW dealer somewhere down in Connecticut and they had worked out a deal for 5 employees of Turner. Amusingly , his windscreen was broken at the time and he's the only one I know who's had more of them than me(7)

If the question is refereing to a NEW MINI. then the one i Destroied would have had the oldest or close to it build date. The 02 had a 11/01 build date on the door. This was also a Dealer Demo I bought off the show room floor on day one. The car was a Euro-spec converted for the US. It didnt have the Speed limitor and the Rev limiter was set at 7600 from the Factory.

Mugami,
Do you remember the serial #? Was that an MCS? When did the MCS go into production? Glad to see these cars are still around. Thanks for responding everyone.

We have a 6/02 build. We waited nearly a year between putting money down and getting the car. I think it was picked up in July or August. It's funny now to look back at all the stuff we got and see the 2 page list of accessories that were available but there weren't any pictures . Our MINI dealer was being run out of a back room of a Mazda dealership at the time.

Holdinontoit,
That's a pretty good story. It does my heart good to see others still caring after driving these things for years. I appreciate mine as much now as day one. I remember going in for an oil change and NO ONE was in the service bays. My how things have changed.

While my car's build date is 11/04 it's an '05' cabrio. Does any one know what month they started building the cabrio's?
