Suspension replaced h-sport with h&r
replaced h-sport with h&r
Replaced the springs tonight and can't believe I waited so long to do it. Everyone said how the H-sport's are the best of both worlds, but I found them to be the worst of both. I don't unserstand what people see in them. The H&R's are firmer, but they don't bounce front to back or crash on pot holes like the h-sport. They set much sooner and are more precise on bumpy back roads. I felt out of control on back roads especially when changing steering input after setting in a corner.
I used them both with bilstein sport shocks. This helped the h-sport ride a little, but the front end just bounced around. This was very noticable while riding in the back seat (yeah I have people drive my car so I can get a different perspective) almost like a mini low rider with hydraulics.
The only negative, which isn't that bad, is that on smooth road you can feel the bumps, almost like a judder, where the h-sports are very smooth. On rough or broken road the h&r are smoother. Once you hit smaller more frequent elevation changes the h-sport fall apart, but the h&r stay relatively smooth.

I was thinking of doing that too, but glad I didn't as the rear feels great. Now it doesnt accelerat into a back wrenching thud when hitting high speed dips.
There are a few trouble points on my way to work that I was going to note, but the ride was so much better that I drove right past them.
I see you have the spec stage 3+. Is it worth the extra cash. I am about to replace a stage 2, but not sure if I should go 2+ or 3+. I don't feel that the kevlar disc can tolerate the slipping it takes to get the mini moving. Although, I did get 60k out of it.

H&R
Remember, Turner Motorsports does a lot of R&D for H&R. Will Turner has made a hell-of-a business prepping BMW's for the winner's circle. I have H&R spring all around on my track car and could not be happier.
Good Luck.

I had H-sport springs for a year with stock shocks and the ride quality for daily driving got too jarring. My passengers were really noticing it.
Switched to Bilstein PSS9 coilovers and tuned the dampening to the middle settings and it was much better/smoother.

I think the jarring comes from bump-stopping all the time. The Koni yellows and H&R springs are firmer than HSport/stock dampers, there's just no bottoming out.

I would try to match power and clutch. I plan to try for 300+ whp, hence the stage 3+ which is a bit easier to drive than the stage 3. If you don't have the need go for stage 2 or 2+.

I have compressed the struts with just bump stops on and I can't see how the h-sport could bump. the thickness of the springs are taller than the bump stop itself. Infact my bilsteins don't have stops in the front anyway.
I only have about 500 miles on the 3+, so it remains to be seen. The 3 didn't last very long for me and I suspect it's because of the stop-and-go.
I have had the Hsport springs with stock dampers for about 6 months and plan to either go back to stock or try something different. They are too harsh for me and don't seem to mate well with the stock dampers.Does the H&R have more drop than the Hsport lowering spring? I am not interested in the drop. I was fine with the stock ht. I also liked the Hsport "look", but don't want any additional drop. The goal is a daily driver that works well when I ax or do a track day. Thoughts?
