Wheels from Ebay- Opinions wanted please!

Just wanted some opinions on the look of these wheels and whether the offset would be ok on a 06 Mini. Or if anyone has ever seen them on a mini or knows of a picture of them on a mini that would be great! They seem to be pretty cheap! Thanks ahead of time for any input. Also i hope this is in the right forum.

$160 for the wheels and $160 ($40each) to ship. Hmmm.

I'm always skeptical of ebay 'good' deals.

Four naked wheels for $160? I had a set of wheels and tires shipped to me clear across the country for $125.

Brand new wheels and tires for 125? Shipped? Where can i find that deal. 17"? I don't think so. Unless they were used. These are four brand new wheels. 17". so... I understand the shipping is a little much but even at $100 shipping it is still only $220 for the wheels. My main questions were what did you guys think of the style of rim and would they look good on my cooper. Or has anyone seen them before and will the 40mm offset be ok?

No, the shipping was $125. I said they were shipped for $125. That was on top of the price of the wheels and tires, which was pretty decent. They're 16s, were from a private seller, and they were three-day-old take-offs. 16s, to me, are the best balance between weight, ride, handling, and looks. But that's just my preference.

Here they are, on my car:

Yes, the price and shipping you have for those wheels, all together, is a good deal. I'm just not crazy about the way some (ebay) sellers (in particular) massage the selling and shipping prices. Of course, they do it so they don't have to pay as big a premium, because ebay charges them by the final selling price.

Also, are they a brand name, or are they pretty much an unknown entity? Oftentimes, inexpensive has a reason.

They're BSA wheels. The company has been around since the mid-1990's, and their wheels meet all the international standards. So in terms of manufacturing tolerances and things like that, they're safe and you shouldn't have any problems with vibration or anything like that.

They're probably low-pressure cast alloy, so they're not going to be as light or as strong as a high-pressure cast or a forged wheel, but depending on what you need them for, they may do fine.

The total price including shipping ($320) is in the neighborhood of what you can get them for online. As another poster pointed out, the eBay seller is just "tweaking" the selling price and shipping price to reduce their eBay fees, and to make their wheels show up higher in the results list when a shopper sorts their searches by "lowest price first".

offset

I noticed that your post also asked about the offset. My answer to that is a maybe. I bought a set of 16" Borbet with 4mm offset. I got rubbing on the rear fender liner with 205/55 tires when I hit a big bump. I changed to 205/50 tires and everything works fine. The 40 offset moves the tire out so that it is even with the fender flare and it seems to make the car look meaner.

They are probably going to be fairly heavy, you could ask them the wieght, but if that's not a huge concern they should be fine don't forget the hub rings!

Thank you everybody for "wieghing" in! Sorry for the confusion Zip, since the shipping and wheels were both $160 I guess i just got mixed up in what you meant. I appreciate the input from everybody. I'm not sure what i'm going to do yet I just wanted to see what everyone thought of them and if they would work. I'm going to try and get wieghts and a side view or mount picture from the guy. I'll let you know what he says. Thanks again.

Also zip...what kind of wheels are those?

Casey

UPDATE: they sold...so ya guy got them for 125 that he offered.

casey,

We just want to see you get what you want for a good price, so it's all good.

My wheels are late '06 take-offs. I got 'em from a NAM member who upgraded a few days after picking up his new MC(S, I think).

Can you post a pic of your wheels, please? I would love to see that offset.
