I notice there's no dealership in Alberta, so I'm just curious as to whether anyone has a MINI in Alberta.

I'll be driving my MINI from Denver to Alberta in about two weeks. We'll be visiting Calgary (my cousin lives there), Jasper, Banff, and the Yoho national park.

The likliness that someone in Alberta having a MINI is very slim. I doubt if there's more than 5. I Moved from there and everyone I know over that way has no idea there's a new MINI even released. Nearest dealer from there is at least 12 hours away. There is however a rumour going round that there's a dealership planned for Calgary sometime in Sept.(?)
I'll be heading up to Calgary and Fort Mac sometime early Sept in my MCS as well. So if there happens to be anyone out there that would like to meet up for a quick hello and what not, that'd be kinda cool.
Cheers,

Dave,

I think you responded to my call, earlier, when I was looking for a MINI to shoot a commercial with. Nobody has responded to me. Either people don't want to share their cars or there aren't many MINI's in Calgary. My friend that lives there said he hasn't seen one on the road, but I guess a couple of dealers are selling them their...not MINI dealers, of course.

Anyway, I know this is no help. Have a safe and fun time motoring.

Jason

No dealer in Calgary, but you can order via Calgary BMW. I've got an '03 on the way. I was told by the salesman that BMW is not allowed to show or deliver Mini's from the BMW dealership. The new Mini dealership is being built somewhere near Crowfoot, its apparently under construction and due to be completed by the new year. '02's are sold out, but if you order an '03 you can get it a month or two at most after the people waiting for their '02's.
I have seen a few in town, but they've been transplanted from Vancouver or elsewhere.

From what I know, MINI of Winnipeg is supplying MINIs to Saskatchewan and Alberta, it's the only MINI dealership across our three provinces. If you are planning on ordering one you should look into Birchwood BMW / MINI here in Winnipeg, ask for Catherine, she's the head of sales for MINI, tell her Calvin sent you.

A friend from Calgary says he saw a Silver Mini with Colorodo plates a couple weeks back. Guess that must have been you Dave? How was the trip? I'll be heading up there from B.C. in a couple weeks myself. Time to show Calgary what this Mini craze is all about!

Yeah, that was me.

We went through Calgary on Sunday night two weeks ago (August 25th). My MINI is Dark Silver / White, White Bonnet Stripes, R90's, and the previously mentioned Colorado Plates.

CANADA was amazing. I now have almost all of the nearly 200 digital pictures I took on the trip uploaded. So there will be enough for a couple of really good picture posts (probably either tomorrow or Monday).

Reaction in Canada was quite different than the U.S.
1) No one asked me "What is that?" Everyone that approached me recognized that it had Mini heritage.
2) I had a few, "Well it's bigger than the original" comments.
3) Everyone that asked was surprized that Calgary or Edmonton didn't have a MINI dealership.

Very very good trip. I'll post more soon.

Dave,

I really didn't think anything of telling my buddies over there that there was going to be a member of the Mini club heading on out there. I guess the house where you were parked in front was just a couple streets down from my friends. So when he saw it, he passed on an email to me saying that he finally saw one, but with Colorodo plates, and different wheels. It was the out of Country plates that rang a bell for me. Said that has to be the guy from minicooperonline. And sure enough. Rather weird how that came about.
Saw the pics that you posted in the 'MINI TALK' forum. Nice photos. Looks and sounds like you had a great time. Another satisfied Mini owner.
Can't wait to get out there and do some Mini road trips myself. Get my Dark Silver MCS tomorrow. Woo hoo. No more waiting around.
Cheers,

That house belongs to my cousin Ryan. I loved that part of Calgary. It's right on the hill with the back yard emptying out into the park. Very nice.

Which dealership are you getting your MINI from? Glad your wait is over.

I'm actually from BC. I'm getting my MCS from Mini-Yaletown.
But you touched into the most beautiful parts in Canada (Banff/Jasper/Lake Louise area). I used to live in Calgary and run over there to get away from it all. Very nice. But the only jobs available over there are in the tourist industry, for the most part. Otherwise I'd be living there.
But then I hear that Colorodo is pretty nice in itself as well.
Cheers,

Roverout: Welcome to MCO!

I have a cousin and an aunt and uncle in Whitehorse, so I'll have to ask and see if they have had any MINI sightings.

Crowfoot Mini opened in NW Calgary Jan 15th. All cars are sold. Only demos and a few odd combos around.

Ordered 03 MCS beginning Feb, arrival late April.

There are a few around on the streets but not many....

I saw a silver MINI in Edmonton a few weeks back wiz by. Since then I have been wondering why there is no dealership here yet, and if one is planned.

I'm just finishing up university, and depending on my budget, a MINI COOPER would be just the thing...hot to look at, cheap to drive. Plus the traction features seem great for all the highway driving I do...

Anyways, does anyone know whether the BMW dealership here sells MINI's? I haven't given them a call yet, and felt awkward going over there, to the land of luxury, in my 'vette (that's Chevette).

Well, I guess I'll have to go to Calgary if I'm really interested. Even Saskatoon has a dealership now...

Q.
