car cover advice?

I'm going to need a car cover for my new MCS. Went out to the garage this morning to find that my cats 2 (declawed) had apparently tried to run up the drivers side door then must of had a race down the hood...scratches all over the place spent the morning buffing out scratches. Car has 300miles on it and was still perfect...I'm telling you if my wife didnt love those things. So I'm going to have to park it outside. Or get a cover for it. I figure that the car has to be real clean before I put the cover on it...or it will scratch it also?? Any of you guys have a cover you recommend? Do they have one out for the 07 yet? Your help is appreciated!!

#1-- get rid of the cats, #2 . If the wife doesnt like it then she is next.( Just joking). I think that the present R53 covers will fit the R56 cars. get a cheap indoor one and spray it with one of those sprays that they sell at the pet stores that deters cats.!!.

King of my castle, thank you!

OUTSIDE? PUT YOUR MINI OUTSIDE??
Cats belong outside, Minis belong inside. End of story.

MINI sells two car covers, one for the inside and second for the outside. They fit well.

My husband just bought a indoor cover for our 2007 MCS. He ordered it online from Autoanything.com I think they are located in San Diego, Ca. It is called "DustTop" by CoverCraft...It is very soft and it cost about $165.00 and it is for the 2007

I feel your pain!

Man I feel your pain. We have three cats, all outside cats, but my wife lets them stay in the garage. I have a cover for it. The gray one with the black windows and wheels. They sell it as an inside/outside cover. I guess that means its suitable for use inside and outside. ( as my daughters are so fond of saying, "NO DAA")
Well I have found that havin a cover does help but some times it promotes scratches. One of the cats dug his claws into the cover to pull his bad self up the back of the car. The insuing scratches were not to bad but all the same they were scratches. The really bad ones are when their paws are wet. They jump up on the bonnet with the grit from the cement floor on their paws. That makes a mess.
The one precaution that I now take is to make sure the car is cooled down before putting it back inside the garage. The little fur ***** like the warmth from the engine. They are less likly to climb up there when the car is cooled off.
And yes the car had better be clean when you put the cover on it or it will scratch all the more. Thats where the duster comes in handy.
Good luck

My husband purchased the MINI indoor car cover for me for the same reason. My two cats love to sneak in to the garage and climb up to lay on my MINI. (of course they ignore all the other things in the garage to climb on or lay on... I guess even Cats love MINIs).

OH NO!!! Ryan that sucks!

If it makes you feel better, I'll relay this last week's experiece: I walked out to our Volvo sedan today and found that it had been scratched... a lot! EVERYWHERE!!! A line dowy EVERY body panel and on on the front fenders back and forth like someone had scribbled back and forth on the car! Looks like someone used one of the rocks or pebles from the landscaping neaby. I was crused as it's a really nice car and in beautiful condition.

Turns out my 5-year-old wanted the car to look more like Lightning McQueen. He was trying to put a racing stripe down each side and "Ka-chows" on the front fenders. Needless to say it was lucky for him he was at school when this was discovered and I had about three hours of "cooling off" time before I confronted him about this.

I had to find a local body shop to fix it for me. It was beyond my own polishing & detailing abailities. They wet sanded the whole car, Went over everything with a polishing compoiund. Then put on a fresh coat of carnuba wax. All for $160. You can't even tell where the scratches were. It's better than before, really.

As far as the cover goes. I would say continue to park inside and use one of MINI's indoor covers (like they use at the unveiling).

If you have to park it outside... unless you're parking it under or near trees where pitch or sap could be an issue, I would recommend skipping the cover alltogether. Instead, just keep a good coat of wax on the thing and wash it regularly. I've had equally bad experiences with covers trapping grit or grime them blowing around in the wind - basically chaffing and dulling the cleacoat.
