R56 Lemoned in NY
Lemoned in NY
Well, My Mini is now at the dealer for the 5th time in six weeks. Engine light comes on and car sputters. They changed oxygen sensor and said I was using the wrong octane fuel even though it happened on their tankful of gas, they don't know what to do next. Factory folks cannot figure it out. They are contemplating giving me a new car. They want one more chance to fix problem. Help Any similar stories?

Someone's not telling all, or they're not up to date on this. I just spoke to my SA and she says MINI sent out a list of the issues so far with the '07s (just a few minor things), and she said the check engine light problem is one of them. MINI DOES know about this!

I'd be lemon lawing that bad boy. Better start doing research & getting your documentaion in line. By all means do get another MINI.

No, the lemon law applies to any problem or problems which affect the safety or value of the vehicle which the dealer is unable to repair after "reasonable" (which is often considered 3) attempts.
Picked up my MCS on March 9. On the way home the check engine light came on and then went off. Later that week it happened again and stayed on. March 19 the dealer came to my house and picked up the MINI and left me a loaner. The next day I got the car back and the following day the light came on again. The dealer came out again, picked up my car and left me another loaner. Tuesday I got my car back. There were leaks and bad connections in the turbocharging system. For my inconvenience, I received a Cooper S cap and an installed JCW strut brace. The MINI runs better now than it did 2 weeks ago and I'm happy with the dealers' service.
A funny thing happened to me on the way to the parade... The local MINI group (12 members strong) was invited to show cars in the Go Texan parade a few weeks ago (you have to be Texan to understand). Since mine hadn't yet arrived I was given a loaner from the dealer--an MCa. While we were in the staging area the check engine light went on, although we didn't know what it meant since there was no owner's manual in the car. We called the dealership and about a half hour later we finally reached a human who knew what it meant. Fortunately no problem, the car ran fine, but it was scary for a while. I'd previously fried a BMW engine a couple of years ago, and that was what I was nervous about...
Come talk to me when you are actually driving one noob...

I agree with LynnEl.
I've driven both.
We've had enough stupid bashing in this forum already.
You wouldn't want this post to apply to YOU would ya?

In Germany, an automobile like this is referred to as a "Montags Auto." This means it is an automobile manufactured on a Monday. Monday is a rough work day because the workers have been home all weekend drinking. So the things they do on Monday are not so good. The expression is used in a jovial way in casual conversation, but, unfortunately, there are times like yours when it is serious.
I remember the years past (I'm ancient in comparison to you whippersnappers) when they talked about Monday cars and Friday cars. I've heard real horror stories, and the lemon law didn't exist back then. Neither did loaner cars. We are so much better equipped as consumers now.
There is no need for this type of comment in this forum. If you're here to offer advice or comment great, if you're here to bash the R56, leave.
I agree. Well I wouldn't say mine was a lemon but it was in the shop at least once a month for parts falling off and a bad clutch along with a few other things. So yeah getting an R53 could be as much as a lemon as an R56. Sunger keep us posted on the repairs and good luck with everything!

I could see how it could come into play depending on how the dealor's responce to this issue and what sunger wants to see come of the situation.
