Radio question and pictures

Has anyone installed an XM or other after market sat. radio purchased from the large electronic store. Very pricey through the dealer. Where does the after market go and is there a good area for it that dosn't look cramped. My Honda Accord has the starmate below the radio and ac control. Does anyone have a picture and is there a pre wire. Thanks

I currently have an XM subscription and would like to transfer it to the Mini. I've decided to leave the hardware installed on my Accord and just buy a new receiver. I'm not sure what to get, as some of the hardwire versions require drilling (). I've heard about some portable receivers that don't need an antenna hardwired -- they just need to plug into an aux input.

Are there any benefits/downsides to the portables? Or is installing the "traditional" XM hardware not as involved as I think?

Thanks for the input!

Install the XM Direct and you can control it with your head unit.

I did this last year and LOVE it.

Takes 15 min and $150...

I've heard of the XM Direct before, but I have doubts as to whether it will work on the R56. Until I know for sure I need to find an alternate solution (since I pick up my Mini in three weeks).

I was told in a similar thread under navigation and stereo that blitzsafe is currently working on hardware for xm direct use with the R56. I'll be waiting until its ready as opposed to a portable solution.
