wheel size

a local shop has two sets of wheels they had on there drift car they look alsome on the mini when i put them on the mini the wheel with tire was about a 1/4 inch away from the strut is this to close i went for a ride with the wheels just on the front and it seemed like they didnt rub but i dont want to buy a set of wheel that wont work with the car

Usually if you take your MINI for a ride and you put four people in the car and drive around on the street through turns and dips in the road and there is no loud scraping and grinding noises from the suspension and undercarriage then you are doing just fine.

Sounds like you will be OK but find some friends and go for a ride. 1/4" from the (front) strut or shock is not bad. One of my wheels is 1/2 mm from my rear trailing arm in the rear.

Make sure the tire pressure is good in all tires before you test drive it. About 37 psi if you have four people.
