Magnaflow on the 'Vert...still require custom fit?

Hello All!

I tried doing a search on this subject and found a few older posts about it, but nothing definitive.

Will the redesigned Magnaflow fit an '06 Cabrio without any additional custom fitting?

Thanks,

David

The redesign is for the hardtop only. I found a professional exhaust shop and they made it fit my 'vert and installed it for an additional $200.

Oops... I have a Magnaflow cat-back en route for my Cabrio S. I found the following on Outmotoring.com:

"Fits Cooper S convertible 2003-2006 with rebending of a section of the mid pipe as it wraps towards the rear mufflers. Any decent muffler shop should be able to do it."

Looks like the self-install won't happen. I've emailed Magnaflow for advice...

Magnaflow is installed! NO mod's necessary on '07 Cabrio S 'vert (which should be identical to the '06, right?) However... you have to remove the four reinforcing bars to get the old out and the new in. It was tough getting the bars back on; they're under a bit of compression. Just leave all bolts loose until all are started.

LOVE the sound. Woooo hooo!

What was the part number of the exhaust that you installed? Did it have two mufflers or a single muffler?

Magnaflow #16662, for 2004-06 MINI Cooper S. Twin mufflers, twin tips. Installs on existing hangers.

This is all so confusing... I see reports that the Magnaflow fits, others saying it needs to be tweaked. Are there building variances that some fit and others don't? Off to research what if any work with the M7 USS too.

I had a one ball done and botched by a local muffler shop. Took it to a local now defunct aftermarket place that catered to MINI's among others. Their fix made it worse and now it's butchered badly. So I need to just replace it and buy a complete cat back.
