I just checked the website, and it states that there is a 27HP gain from the full exhaust kit. Are there Dyno numbers to back this statement? That is an awesome gain for $899. It also looks like the exhaust hugs the bottom of the car a little better than the factory offering.

A UK magazine, Performance Tuner, verified the results and yet another did a 3rd party test that validated the results. A car was tested at Scoobyclinic in the UK finding a 28.4bhp gain according to Kev Knight of Scoobyclinic. I'm sure some of our partners here in the USA will very soon be publishing USA dyno figures. -Pete

Very cool. The R56 likes exhaust upgrades like other turbo cars. Good to know and definitely at the top of my mod list.

Any news on the non-turbo exhaust system yet? I know it wil not do as well as the turbo version, but a little burble from my pipes would not hurt my feelings.

Is it California street legal? How does it affect factory warranty?
I'd also like to know what it sounds like.

The gain is for the entire system. The $899 is just for the Catback. You also need the Downpipe with Cat for $799. So, your looking at around $1,700.

Have we found out how much bigger the pipe is? What is stock on a R56?
2 1/2"? 3" would be nice for a turbo. Does anyone one esle think this way too much money for a catback?

The cat will pass in terms of emissions levels (when measured with an instrument) but other legal requirements are another thing.

Milltek has some video files at this link...

Is there a configuration that does not replace the second cat to keep it legal for G-Stock?

FLKeith, not at this time. It's possible we could do a special order but I can tell you adding a cat will increase the price quite a bit unfortunately.

The Milltek system is 2.5". The magic of the DP/Cat is the dramatic reduction in cat density. -Pete

This mod will have to wait till next spring as I've spent my money getting into the car and upgrading the tires/wheels. Yes its alot of money, but when you think about it though, it comes out to about $71.50 per horsepower and IMO its worth it for a quality, dyno tested system that will dramatically improve the cars perf and sound, a win, win

Yes the dollar per power is OK, but that's still assuming the power gain is actual. Milltek would benefit greatly by having this exhaust be independently dyno-tested with proper before and after graphs on the same car, on the same dyno.

The cost of the cat-back is on the slightly high side. It's priced $200 more than the more-complex R53 cat-back. Does it come with both sets of tips? The downpipe price, IMO, is absurd. Also, why is Milltek using only 2.5" pipe anyway? It's a turbo exhaust, you want FLOW, velocity be-damned. I must be missing something here; is the system all 321 stainless?

Why not use the stock 2nd cat? I know this means cutting the pipe between the cat and the muffler. I guess one option is to use the standard Milltek cat-back, shorten the main pipe and create a custom connector to join it to the pipe from the stock 2nd cat. Would that be worthwhile?

My MA told me that BMW has a track record of using any excuse they can to void the factory warranty, so I would guess that a full turbo-back exhaust system would be plenty of cause for them to void your warranty should anything happen to your engine.

Since I've never had a brand new car with full factory warranty, I'll be waiting for the JCW stuff to come out. No since in risking it for a couple extra ponies.

$1,700 seems very cheap to me... Ive been shopping for my 360 and a new Tubi St St sys with tails is over $5,500 + install for ~ $700... no cats. I luv the price of modding the Mini !

I'm bummed that the Militek was released with that tip - I was hoping for the single parallelogram style tip I saw on a site somewhere. With it looking like that I'd rather get the Alta exhaust.
