R52 Stripes for a Cabrio Cooper S
Stripes for a Cabrio Cooper S
OK...so i have now had this car for 4 days and LOVE THIS CAR!.....something about it brings back memories of my first convertible in my teens. The complete open air feel, exhilarating ride and the fact that it didn't cost an arm and a leg....i know you all know what i'm talking about. (i also have a 500SL, and that car has never brought as much joy as this one!) So the reason for my comment here is to ask all of you your thoughts on stripes for the Cooper S Cabrio. Mine is Astro Black with black top and the color is great, but the idea of adding white bonnet stripes to it might look a little like too much contrast or maybe not....so what would you do?.....silver stripes maybe? And bonnet stripes like the Sport Package comes with (I opted not to have them put on at the time) or a different kind of stripe? What about stripes down the back? After market or put on by the Mini dealer? Any of your thougths and pictures would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Lots of options for stripes from a variety of vendors, including Aesthetic Creations and others. I think silver or "carbon fiber" stripes look great on black. As for style - really a personal preference thing - traditional or viper or shelby or checkmate or ???
I bought my Cool Blue cabrio with Black factory stripes - I now have Blue/White/Red magnetic "show" stripes that cover the black ones, and I'm going to replace the black ones with something else (probably dark blue...)

Aesthetic Creations can do anything you like in frost - they can also send you a sample of frost material to stick on and look at for a few days - that's what I'm doing to decide on colors and materials.
Stripe installation can definitely be a DIY if you're careful, patient and follow instructions for the "wet" technique - lots of posts on this if you'll search.
Otherwise, I'm sure there are lots of shops in your area with experience in installing - as well as your MINI dealer, who I'm sure does lots of stripe installs...
Or scoot over to Arizona and Mike at AC will do it professionally.

Just trying to pay back (or pay forward) all the GREAT advice and help I've gotten from NAM in the last 9 months!
I also thought the frost might be the way to go. Some of us don't want to shout out "HEY LOOK AT ME", some of us do. For somthing different, I was thinking some sort of verticle side stripe in yellow with a red S would make the AB look like a bumble bee, but haven't see a design yet that turns me on.
