Installed MagnaFlow on Cooper NA
Everything I read in the "Performance Modifications" forum seems geared to the MCS. So I thought I'd put in my $0.02 worth on a Cooper NA mod.
I purchased a MagnaFlow cat-back from Husker High Performance Exhaust for $440.00. Ordered late Sunday night, received Friday. My biggest concern was the sound level this unit would make. I listened to the MSC soundclips elsewhere on this forum, and liked what I heard. I also read of some users who thought the 'Flow on the MCS was too loud.
The 'Flow for the MC NA was well built. It is all stainless with stainless hardware. The resonator and the muffler are both polished stainless. The cat flange is heavy, and the tubing is thick walled. Overall, the build quality is excellent.
Anyway, the install took me, working alone, from the time I took off my wedding ring until I fired it up, a full 35 minutes. No problem areas noted, it's pretty straight forward. The resonator hangs from the stock rubber hanger by means of a straight rod without "nubs". The muffler hangs by the use of a "nubbed" rod.
The sound was anything but loud. In fact, I was a little disappointed that it wasn't louder. It's so un-loud that I installed the unit without my wife even knowing that I had bought or installed it. She has yet to acknowledge any difference, but then, she's a girl, and what the hell do they know, or care for that matter.
However, the 'Flow has that mellow bark that seems to fit the car perfectly. My brother, who is anything but a gear head, made that observation independent of any prompting from me. I took the car on a freeway cruise and did not notice any resonance. The sound inside the car with windows up and A/C going was very comfortable. We carried on normal conversation without any notice of the increased sound.
I conclusion, if you want a loud exhaust for the MC NA, the 'Flow ain't it. However, if you prefer that sound that befits a proper British sports car, this is it.
I hope to get the car on the dyno soon to discover any gains.

I hope you'll do a follow-up appraisal after a few hundred miles or so. Some of these exhausts start out rather muffled (no pun intended) and don't show their true colors until they've been through a few heat cycles. The RSpeed was a good example - it was deja vu all over again as I read your post - started out almost quiet. It took about a hundred miles before it started to develop some character and a hundred or so later before it was in full voice with excellent tone.

Welcome to the club! I have the flow on my cooper too. I was also impressed with the quality of the magnaflow for the cooper. I agree the sound isnt too loud at all, my cousin has a magnaflow for his integra that is loud! If you don't already have an intake get one! It makes the car sound even better with the intake and magnaflow, it has a nice growl at full thottle and you can really feel a difference. I just love the sound of the magnaflow when it idles too. It does have that British sports car sound

I'd love to do an intake, but I'm running the car in SCCA Solo2 H-Stock where intake changes are not allowed. I decided to run in Stock so I can keep my wallet under control. This way, I don't buy the coilovers, the Quaife, camber plates,....
Thanks for the welcome!

ThumbsUP, thanks for the report, let us know if the sound remains relatively mellow. Now You've got me reconsidering Magnaflow for my Cooper. I searched the threads & could find no reference to dyno results or claimed Torque/horsepower for the Magnaflow on a NON-S. The closest I came was; "The Magnaflow ($550) is a little louder than the other systems, but makes great power" . I've seen the GRM tests on some of the other excellent systems out there. Does anyone have any test data on Magnaflow for the NON-S?
thanks in advance!
