the back seat is good only if the person sitting in the front is not taller than 6 feet, however the seat behinh the driver is best lo left alone, I think this car is faily comfortable for 3 adults as long as neither is 6.4

While I've not been in the back of too many sports cars, I can tell you with great certanity it is considerably more comfortable than the back of a Mitsubishi 3000GT or a Toyota Celica.

seriously though. I'm 5'10", and my seat is a little far back. There's no way a normal size adult can stick their legs in there.

I traded in a ’99 Mitz 3000 GT for my MCS and I can verify what Joe says.

I am 6'3" and fit just fine in the back behind the driver with my 6' son when my 5'6" wife is driving with my 5'9" daughter riding shotgun (when was the last time someone used that term??)

The back seat is definitely usable in this setup for 2-hour trips. Any more may be pushing it...

I use all four seats regularly. I drive with my son(12 year old- 4 feet 8&quot behind my seat all the time.
My drives are all short distance less than one hour. Two adults in the front no taller than 5'6" and two children in the back, my 16 year old 5'2" daughter on the right and my son behind me.

No complaints. It isn't roomy (except in the front) but the seats (I have Lapis blue leather) are like buckets in the back and comfortable. For two people it is great.

Certainly it is much better than alot of other small cars and sports cars. I would not put large adults in the back but I think I could do fine there at my height of 5'6" for up to two hours on a drive.

The rear trunk area is limited but I find that I will use it to capacity. I fill it up with my things and rarely need to use the back seat or fold down the seats. Access to the trunk from the rear hatch is excellent.

Rear trunk space 5.3 cubic feet
Rear trunk with rear seats folded down 23.7 cubic feet

Try this. Go to any small four passenger car. Get a tape measure.
Use these measurements and compare
Front 38.8 inches headroom (no sunroof) and 53.9 inches shoulder room
Rear 37.6 inches headroom (no sunroof) and 44.5 inches shoulder room

You will find that headroom is very generous, hence tall people fit fine, even in the back. Also the width of the car is good so shoulder room tends to be fine. The only shortcoming I see is that the leg room for the rear is limited and non existant if the front seats are moved ALL the way back.

For my family it is fine. I feel the trunk space is quite good for one or two people. I had a four door hatchback a long time ago and my mini is just as good for space as my other hatchback. I am quite satisfied with the rear trunk. I do not try to put golf clubs or a bike back there. I have a large minivan for anything that requires abundant space.

Oh Yeah- so what do I put in my trunk routinely-

My starbucks espresso maker-9" wide x13"tall x 12" deep
A small soft hand carry brief case, a 5 gallon plastic pail full of espresso syrups and a coffee grinder, a basketball and pair of shoes or my BOSE wave radio CD player. I'll have a little room for a stack of CDs or other small items and the MINI tool kit. I run a portable coffee and stereo shop out of my office and take it home on weekends.

In general anything I can carry in two trips to the car will fit in my trunk. Sometimes I use creative packing schemes but it all does fit without much fuss or effort.

The other day I was about to buy a small room air conditioner about 20x20 inch front for a 16x14 foot room. The box was 66 pounds and would have fit in my mini with the rear seats folded down.

We're about to take our second road trip. The first was when we bought our car in Memphis and drove to Dallas (8hours). We are headed to San Antonio (6 hours) in a couple weeks. We have two kids in car seats and they sit in the back and LOVE it. They are closer together than in our other vehicle (evil SUV) so they get on our nerves at times by tickling ea. other...and yes the occasional fight can result in hair pulling over a toy...but all in all our trips are a blast!

Trunk space..We pack light and if we see something we want and have no room for we stop at a parcel store or post office and mail it back.

Good Luck!!

Yes, if you are going to be travelling with several people, cargo carrying capacity is limited. However, I can imagine 3 well-packed adults doing great on such a trip.

With one of the seats folded down to increase cargo capacity, Each person could bring a single carry-on size suitcase as well as small personal bag, purse, backpack, etc.

Athough I cannot stand being in a car with someone else at the wheel, I would happily be a back seat passenger in a MINI under such circumstances.

Remember, the MINI does have the Dr. Who technology to make the interior actually larger than the exterior. My Saint Bernard thinks the space back there is quite luxurious!

I've had four adults comfortably in my MINI. Me driving, 5'2", a woman riding shotgun, 5' 8", and two grown men in the back seat, 5'11" and 6'2". The men said that they were surprisingly comfortable sitting back there. I don't think I'd take them on a trip longer than an hour and a half, but for short trips, it's just fine. Especially if your driver is short!

I've found that there is more than adequate trunk space. I have yet to put the rear seats down except maybe to show them to people. But then, I'm in my car by myself most of the time and the other three seats become very convenient storage areas!

I once had my ex-sister-in-law and my two nephews in the car to go to the beach. We managed to fit two boogie boards, two large beach bags full of stuff, a few other beach items, all in the boot, and we didn't even have to remove the 'lid'! In addition to those items, there was my standard gallon of wiper fluid, the MINI tool kit, an umbrella, a first-aid kit, a reflective triangle, and one or two other small items. If you pack it right, you can fit a lot in!

I have found that with myself at the wheel (5'11&quot my MINI is a 3 person automobile (4 if I take my 6 yr. old niece, which won't last much longer). I've done a 4th once, and I was too uncomfortable to make it more than 20 minutes. But 3 is a piece of cake. Even with 3, there is enough room in the boot with half of the seat folded down to carry enough stuff for at least a week, and everyone is comfortable!

I'm still trying to figure out how to get anything in the trunk

Twinky; yes the rear seats are useable, and comfortable. They are not luxurously spacious like you favorite limo, but if you need to fit 4 normal people in the MINI, you can do it without anyone being cramped.

My best advice is to go test drive a MINI!

Come on,I love my car as much as anyone. The back seat is for children ,or very short rides for adults. Not only is the amount of room limited, climbing in and out is a major effort.
I have never enjoyed a car more than my Mini;but if you need a sedan, you won't be happy with a Mini

With a little thought, it's amazing how much you can haul in a Mini. Most of my weekly trips to the store for groceries don't need the seat down (though I usually keep it down out of habit). Only problem is when I get dog food or my tenant gets kitty litter. Not a big surprise there. When I took my roadtrip, I was loaded up and brought my instruments to play for my niece and nephew. I was gone for 10 days, so I had packed my duffle on wheels, a full tool kit and my music supplies (which was a viola in case, electric violin with case, amplifier and a big bag o' music), a cooler, my laptop (with related supplies) and two bags of things my mother sent for the kids. Seats were down, of course, but with all that in there, I still hadn't done anything that reduced visibility out the back.

the Boot is 5.3 cubic feet with the seats up. This is good for (as Car and Driver says) "four upright [paper] grocery bags and one days worth of mail"

I took my music gear to the dealership (about 2 hours away) and made sure I could pack a MINI w/ it before I even considered signing any papers. I recommend you do the same. Pack the back and/or bring some folks along on a test drive. Best way to feel good about things ahead of time.
