TSW - Rotors, rotors everywhere!
TSW - Rotors, rotors everywhere!
Finally got our shipment in from our supplier, Fremax. They are based in Brazil - and when they say slow boat shipping, they're not kidding!
Nothing like spending an afternoon unloading 1357 pounds of rotors... in the rain. Ah, the things we do for sweet parts!
Fremax has been around since 1986 and is the current supplier of brakes to the Brazilian Stock and Touring Car race series. They also supply series in Asia and Europe. They're not well known outside of South America, Europe and Asia, but they make killer stuff. They own their home market by a landslide (60%).
Anyhoo, these little beauties are high carbon cast iron, slotted, and coated with a nifty black phosphorous coating. The coating will obviously be stripped off where the pad wipes the rotor, but the rest of it will retain the coating for protection. Being that they have a higher carbon content, you will likely notice more surface rust on the rotor faces - until you drive the car!
Those in humid or salty areas will probably notice it more, but a quick jaunt around the block will remove it and not affect performance.
They have proven their worth with us, and we're excited to bring another great option to the market. These are the BEST OEM-style replacement rotors, period. They come shipped in a vacuum sealed container that Fremax patented - this means there's no nasty cosmoline removal required before installation!
The current shipment will only fit 02-mid '06 models, before MINI switched to the larger front rotors - also, if you have the JCW brake kit, these ain't for you! We're working with our supplier to check on availability of the larger front rotors for later builds and JCW brake kit equipped cars - stay tuned!
Introductory pricing:
Fronts - $119 + shipping (and tax if you're in TX)
Rears - $99 + shipping
Full set (front AND rears) - $199!!!

If you'd like for us to put together a package for you, with Porterfield R4-S or R4 pads and/or Ireland SS brake lines, we can certainly do that - just email, call, or PM us!
