MITM ~ Movie under the stars this year is CARS!
MITM ~ Movie under the stars this year is CARS! (Well, Maybe....)
Yes, as we did last year, on Saturday night of MITM this year we will again screen a major movie for our attendees. This year"
CARS! The Movie by Pixar
Come to MITM2 and enjoy the movie with us, outdoors, in the Burning Stones Plaza under the stars during a beautiful Colorado summer evening.
What is CARS? Basically, a fast-paced animated movie set inside the world of cars. Lightning McQueen is a hot-shot rookie race car driven to succeed, and you will enjoy the story of how he discovers that life is a journey, not a race.
Join us at MITM2 for a great live band, sponsors dinner, movie and then 14,246 feet up Mt.Evans - ALL on Saturday night!!
See you there.

Although Cars is a good choice, that was the movie shown at the dragon this year. I would like to see a different movie although none come to mind right now...

Actually, I agree
because I would rather see something like 'Papillon'. However, we have only limited influence in determining what movie is shown.
Note that Copper Mountain Resort (www.CopperColorado.com ) has a summer-long movie schedule that they play, under the stars, outdoors, in Burning Stones Plaza. They have already scheduled for the summer. In addition, this is a family resort and many locals come up for showings as they are free. The movie is not exclusive to MITM attendees. We are joining an ongoing show.
In the event they are amenable to change (and can change their contract) please post here some suggestions you have.

So...you think you want a movie other than CARS this year??/
Make your suggestions here. No promises yet, but if we get some good suggestions, then there is a distinct possibility.
Please POST your suggestions for family (and public) friendly movies you might like to see at MITM..

My personal favorite is Death Race 2000
but alas it is just a hair to violent for familys
Heres a link to hotrod magazine they listed the top 40 car movies. It is slanted toward american hotrods since Italian Job(original) came in at 39

Hey its something to look at, though I doubt any are for the whole family.

Very good suggestion.
And the nominees ARE:
Jonathan
- Bullitt - Killer chase scenes, great views of the Cragars, something Mustang lovers have to love. And Jackie aint't that bad 40 years ago, either.
- American Graffiti - A personal fave, love seeing those young old actors. And the music will have everyone tappin' their feet....
- Gumball Rally - Maybe not the broad appeal to all, but good if you can't sleep at night.
- Smokey and the Bandit - Southern Classic. And Sally Field is still on TV these days prmoting 'Boniva' for bone density. Should have had the milk and not the beer. A great flashback to Jackie Gleason as Sheriff Buford T. Justice. This gets my vote.
- The Blues Brothers. Not what I call a car movie. This is an entertainment movie. But suitable for families and a fun read. If you like to laugh at inept cops, this is the choice. They wreck lots of them.
- Mad Max. A cult fave, won't get my vote. Way too gruesome.
- Road Warrior. See Mad Max.
- LeMans. Steve McQueen classic. I love it but we will lose anyone who otherwise would not sit down to a car race on TV.
- Gone in 60 seconds. Car chase? Check. Lots of wrecked cars? Check. Good Movie? Time for popcorn.
- The French Connection. OK, a drug movie. But to me, mostly a classic Gene Hackman job. And again, great chase scenes. But the content is not that family friendly. Come on over to the house. We can watch it downstairs on the big screen in living stereo.
- Viva Las Vegas - Not being an Elvis fan, this does not do it for me. But maybe it works for you. Maybe Ann-Margret works for you. Come to think of it, she works for me. But it is still an Elvis movie.
- And of course, CARS. In order for the movie to be CHANGED, you will all have to vote to unseat CARS.

It has Music, it has Dancing, it has the most fun car chase ever.
Elwood: It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses.
Jake: Hit it.
2 thumbs way up
for The Blues Brothers.

Gumball Rally
Since Mad Max & The Road Warrior are two of my all-time favorites, they'd be my first votes. I'll watch them (over and over) at home and spare everyone the gore. So, for MITM, where everyone is invited, my vote goes to the Gumball Rally. Bring your chewing gum!
Anything but Cars, seen it thought it was LAME... My main choice would be Le Mans, haven't seen it since it came out, don't even know if it's available, Grand Prix, Bullet, I know a lot of McQueen stuff, Italian Job 1 or 2, Spinout, American Graffiti (1)...AG 2 was too depressing, Vanishing Point, Smokey and the Bandit (1), The California Kid, The Gum Ball Rally
Good eye, but it was the only electric blue with no bonnet stripes of all the sigs to chose from...tired to make it more like mine with the rally lights and rims. BTW, twistyblitz are you going to make to the movie and MITM's? (noticed you haven't registered yet) you should it's a great time.

Cannonball Run!
Cannonball Run. The first one. The second one was ridiculous. Third one, not that bad, but the first is classic. One of my childhood favorites.
Edit: Just read review about Gumball Rally: Never seen it! Didn't know it was cannonball style. OK, One more vote for Gumball Rally!

TooWiley,
I am going to be a vendor at MITM's. www.twistybitz.com/
Electric Blue/Black roof is my fave colour combo, but I couldn't find a used one so I bought a CR/BLK. Come by our table and have a look see. EB was the first MINI colour I saw while visiting one of my daughters in Germany in '02. Fell in love, went home and sold the 4Runner that following week, now on my 3rd. I also love the Bumbl Bee look. Next will be GP.
