Well on the way to work today I got stuck behind a bus making its stops, picking up elementary kids. Well one girl sitting in the back seat started to notice my car and before I knew it about SEVEN kids where all sticking their faces against the back window of the bus to get a look. They were all smiles, What a car.

 

Something similar happened to me....it's such a great feeling! Kids LOVE the MINI!

 

I love these slice of MINI life posts. I dropped my son off at high school this morning (in a borrowed '95 Riviera), and wondered what will be the reaction from the boys sitting outside the gym the same time next week when I drop him off in the MINI.

 

I love the school buses-the kids just go wild over the MINI. Passed about 6 boys in their parochial school uniforms & 2 of them did cartwheels for me

There are a lot of kids on my street. I've had toddlers stop dead in their tracks to watch and the older boys will come down to talk to me when I'm out detailing. The car is well liked in the neighborhood. It's just so gosh darn friendly looking, how could you not smile and wave?

 

They sure do. I can confirm that the kids I drive by (as well as my own) definitely love the MINI.

Of course, kids also generally love Barney and the Teletubbies; so I'm not sure what's up with that.

 

The school bus thing has happened to me, too - all crammed against the back windows, grinning! There's also a group of kids on skateboards who are always in my street, and they actually APPLAUDED the first time I went by with the car!

 

These two kids in my nieghborhood always give me thumbs up when I drive by. I guess its true what they said at the MINI corporate meeting...the car just evokes smiles on everyone who sees it. And thats true even if they dont like the car.

 

I can't find the magazine it was stated in, I think it was a UK publication, but the MINI was described as the style of car every five year old draws. I think it's on the true side and might explain the appeal to children.

Well, we could be mentally. I know I'm a kid stuck in an adult's body.

 

I get that too!!! The kids love the MINI. And I even had one little boy (like 8 years old) with his dad walk up to my car and go, "hey dad, it's a MINI Cooper!!" :smile: :smile: :smile:

The kids around here must be either jaded or self-absorbed (considerirng how theire parents behave, the latter would be no surprise) but I have not received a bit of notice when driving behind the school bus. Out on the highway, however, the kids in other cars are the ones who smile and point most often

 

I ordered a PS/B MCS to be less noticeable to the peace keepers.

It's working on everyone else too! Only the every young or old seem to notice the car. So I am under the "radar" as I wanted, but it is wierd!

One 85 year old (the only one!) on my block said it "reminded him of a Graham Paige" because of the "short body and long doors". (1920'2- 1930's) That's it! I might as well have bought a Van on this block!

But it is OK, I don't need the attention.....sometimes that is not good! :smile:

I remember when I was a tyke trying to draw cars and I always got the bits in front and in back of the wheels wrong.
Since the MINI doesn't have much in front or in back of the wheels, drawing it IS much easier!!

Our friend's 9-year-old things we're the COOLEST people because we have a Honda Element and a Mini (well, we just ordered the Mini, should get it in July) - apparently, if we also had a Dodge Viper, then he'd want to move in with us.

 

Since I'm going home from work when most kids are waiting for their school buses, I've seen an amazing response. At first...one kid (maybe 12 or so,) would be sitting every morning...he'd be watching out for me. Gradually...more kids started showing up at the same place...all just smiling and cheering as I go by.
I love going somewhere and seeing little kids smiling and pointing to my MINI. Gotta love it when little kids...4 and 5 year olds, can say "look dad...its a MINI Cooper!!"

 

I HAVE had the "skateboard kid thumbs-up experience", but was looking forward to the more important "babe magnet" experience. Not yet, maybe summer. :smile: One gentleman, driving a brand new, burnt umber Nissan Altima [not a hunk-a-junk], pulled up next to me at a red light, lowered the window, got my attention and peppered me with questions, all the while checking the entire car out from end to end. I'm a white guy, age 47, with hair greying on the sides; finally, I'm one of the 'cool kids'.

 

I got the ice cream guy expeirence.. I stopped for ice cream at a little shop off 340 in the moutains.. some guy ran out of the stand, adn preceded to tell me that hsi boys wanted one of my cars bad, and how he had never even heard of it!.. I let him sit in the car so he could brag to his kids.. MINI should hire me I think at least once a day I sell one to someone..or at least convince them of what a great car it truly is.
