Driving Lamps

Hi all. I'm getting an '06 MCS next week to replace my beloved '04 MC (totaled!). Anyway, I got my last MC from Classic in group buy and got a good deal on driving lamps and installation.

My dealer has quoted me an obscene price ($1100) for the lamps. Should I order them from Classic with the discount and bring them somwhere else? Can anyone recommend a place in the Bay Area that won't rip me off?

Also, if I get aftermarket lights installed, would that potentially void the warranty? I'm nervous about that...

Thanks for any suggestions!

$1,100 is MORE than obscene. I thought $800 ($400+400 labor) was the going rate. I just installed the OEM lamps, and the worst part is drilling the holes for the brackets.
Check Bay Bridge Motors or Edge Motorworks for install prices. I really appreciated the OEM harness, but in reality, you're only tapping into the fuse box and high beam relay, so I wouldn't fret aftermarket installs.

I'd check out what's on Ebay for OEM lights, & then go to Bay Bridge Motors in Oakland to have them put on. Just my 2 cents......

I got mine on Ebay, but Classic will give you a decent deal - certainly better than the dealer!!

So if I get them from Classic and go to Bay Bridge Motors to install them, what does that do to the warranty?

On my last car, I did the brake light mod and then had some electrical issue which the dealer blamed on the mod. Long story short, the work was not under warranty and was expensive! So, I'm a little gun shy.

That's a hard call, dealers IMHO will always look for an out, it would seem that BMW who is really behind all this would have us keep to OEM parts done at a dealer for BIG $$$$. In the end you'll just have to decide how badly you want lights. BBM is very good at what they do, all my mods have been done by them or myself and they stand behind their work, so now it's up to you love, good luck.
