Stone chip protector

Anyone have the clear stone chip preventor on their bonnet? If so do you like it? Does it work? Do you know where to get one other than at the dealer?

Appreciate your input!

Clear Stone Chip Protector? Do you mean a clearbra?

If so, they yeah, LOTS of folks have them. I love mine - it's Xpel.

Depends on where you live - generally there are various folks who do 3M clearbra installations in each metro area - but in my experience, due to the curves of the MINI bonnet, you want someone who has done LOTS of MINIs before yours - and in that case the dealer's guy may be your best bet.

Look up your area on the Xpel site and call your local Xpel installer directly and ask...

Note that they DO get banged up over time - will develop little nicks and dings - but every one is a chip that didn't happen to your paint... An added bonus is they make it EASY to frequently quick-detail the front of the car to get the bugs off, without worries about swirling your paint in those areas...

XPel is Great!

Hey Cobra Kid,
I got the XPel Kit on my MCS as my first aftermarket purchase. It's all about protecting your baby, right? It is well worth it. It is a great product. Not too noticeable unless you are really looking for it. Even when you do see the edge, rather when my friends notice the edge of the clear bra, I get even more appreciation for my efforts to protect my MCS, as well as being subtle about it. Also, the clear bra that my dealer was trying to throw at me during the purchase was irritatingly thick. So thick it, it actually made the car look a discolored. AND, to cover the front and back ends, $900. And yes, that was a discount. I gave the dealer a subtle "Make 7-Up Yours!" Anyway, the 3M product is easy to find and you should be able to find a certified installer. Best part for me is that, the different kits are so affordable, I have the front and back ends protected. Being in Chicago, you can acquire many dents/chips from street parking.

Good Luck.

I have the ClearBra on both my cars. One is a Silk Green Cooper, and you cannot tell it is on, unless you are told about it. I love the fact that it is thick, too...just adds that much more protection.

My MCS has the ClearBra, too. It is Royal Grey. Again, I cannot tell you how much I like the thicker stuff. A few weeks ago, I was at a carshow in FL with it and noticed that someone had deliberately tried to scratch thru it on the front of the bonnet [vertical scratches]. Fortunately, the paint underneath was not touched, and it shows people just how durable the stuff really is.

Q: Anyone have the clear stone chip preventor on their bonnet?
A: Yes. Me included. I also have it grill, scoop, lights, bumpers, mirror housings, and inside door handle.

Q: If so do you like it?
A: Yes. Very much.

Q: Does it work?
A: Very much.

Q: Do you know where to get one other than at the dealer?
A: Yes. I bought pre-cut pieces from AccuGuard www.accuguard.biz/
and installed it myself. Saved many hundreds of dollars, enjoyed doing it, and encourage others to do the same. Or, try this stuff for something different and very easy: Spray Shield http://www.duplicolor.com/products/shield.html
