R53 vs. R56 Steering wheel

Does anyone know if an 05 steering wheel will fit the new R56?

It might; there seem to be many interchangible chassis components so far. The wheels certainly look the same, however the spoke covers are a bit different and the wheel rim feels wider radially but thinner in depth. I wouldn't expect a dealership to be able to tell you a better answer unless they've tried it themself, however that said, I think the part number for the JCW wheel is the same between R53 and R56, you'll want to double check though.

I hope so

I bought the alacantara wheel about a month before my R53 was totalled. I managed to switch it back. I loved the way it looked and feeled.

Thanks for the info!

According to OutMotoring they show the JCW wheel fitting the R56.

Air Bag

Now all I need to do is figure out how to get the air bag off on the R56. I test drove one the other day and it was different as in the way it was attached. Anyone got any ideas?

I'm trying to go from a 2 spoke R56 to a JCW wheel, without having to purchase new airbag, all 3 spoke inserts (part costs for some of those are wrong or off the hook) and get a second mortgage on my house. Please PM if anyone knows a good strategy for this upgrade that won't cost more than a pony.

HEY! I thought it looked familiar. Outmotoring is using my photo, from this thread.

Edit: Outmotoring updated the page and it now shows a different photo.

I know the wheels look identical, but do they have the same part number? Morristown is selling JCW Wheels for $385, but I'm unsure if its exclusive for R53?
