R56 Quoted Wait Times
Doesn't this all have to do with dealer allocations? So, if your dealer has sold enough cars to eat up several months worth of their allocations, then your wait will be longer.
Just a guess ...and might not be a good one.

Similar experience here...put down my deposit in April of 2006, just in time to get the last spot for March 2007 delivery.
NWMini is the only dealer for what, 500 miles?

I ordered my car on 2/22/07 and was told it would take 45-60 days. I got the production number about 5 days after I put down the deposit, does that sound about right? The reason I ask is because I hope I get the car in the middle of April, which would be the 60 day wait:impatient

I think it is all about dealer allocations and demand. I put down a deposit for my car in November, knowing that it would be a March 1 build. Sure enough... March 1, body shop!
I don't know how many Minis with my specs (automatic trans and SatNav) came in afterwards, nor how long until my dealer's next allocation comes around. But it seems like whatever scheduling method they have is pretty accurate, so I wouldn't think a year would be quoted without it being a pretty solid guess.
You might be better off searching nationwide, seeing if a dealer with less demand might get your car for you faster, and make a road trip out of it? I understand from some dealers I was in touch with in IL and WI that they get MANY orders from Cali since they sell at MSRP, and they generally get them faster. There are 5 dealers here in FL (I think?) so wouldnt' be surprised if there was less demand on them as well.

The Owners Lounge information is way behind MINI USA. Call them and give them your production number. It was just over three weeks from production number to actual production. MINI USA info updates about once a week-fri or sat seems best. You might also call your dealer and ask them.

i ordered my MCS from south bay mini president's day weekend (feb 17th)
and got my production # a few days later. My MA then called us to say that our production got moved from april 2nd (with an arrival date of around middle of may) to february 26th. as of february 27th, ASK-MINI guy said my MCS was in southampton waiting for shipment. loui then showed me the schedule for the shipping company and it looks like my MCS will leave southampton on march 6th-ish and get to port hueneme the 28th. then hopefully if it didn't get damaged during its trip and if there isn't a long queue at the VDC, my mini will be at the dealer the next day or two days later. WOW what a long process
, but I bet worth the wait!
