Damn! Had a bent shift fork in my transmission!

At least it only took a screwdriver to fix! And I polished the shaft with some emery paper, and it shifts like butter!

This sucker is a three speed with reverse, no synchros, and a working clutch (mechanical, not hydrolic, but WTF!)
I bought it, a differential with working brakes, and a cutaway engine with working valves, and points that fire a little light for the sparkplug off eBay....

It's a functional cutaway model

of a three speed transmission with clutch. It's to teach how these things work in auto shop and mechanics training classes and the like.....
The shift lever works, it has two shift forks. Three forward speeds and reverse. Functioning clutch too!

My wife didn't know it at the time, but she bought these for me from eBay for Christmass.

Hah! That looks like it was based on an old Borg-Warner three speed from the 30s. I love 'functional cutaways'.

I'm actually quite impressed...

but it's of a generation where it's plastic and metal. I wish it were earlier and all metal, as those parts seem to take abuse a bit better. Some of the parts that make the shift forks needs some de-burring, but overall the action of the clutch (three finger diaphragm, throw-out bearing, friction disc, flywheel and pressure plate all work) while a bit stiff is smooth. Shifting is pretty good, once I figured out that the shifter cap is a friction fit, not threadded, and I sanded the center shaft. Too bad no synchros though!

The differential is pretty cool, it even has working drum brakes! The wiring on the engine needs a going over, and I'll switch it to a LED for battery life. I'll post photos of them in a bit....

What a find! This would be very valuable to show all those people who ask on here for advice on driving a manual transmission... You should make some videos of how the clutch/g-box work.... I always say that understanding how a manual tranny works is 90% oh understanding how to drive one.

Agreed. It's a pretty amazing piece of work. I was never able to visualize how a syncro worked until I had one open in front of me an I was able to change gears while watching that ring shoot back and forth, engaging different gears.
