Tire monitor - cold issue?
Tire monitor - cold issue?
Tire monitor went off on me on the way to work this morning. Pulled over at first gas station I found, and checked all my tires. All looks well, and I've had false alarms within the last few weeks. I've taken one tire that did indeed go flat a few weeks ago to a tire repair center which over-inflated it, and stuck it underwater. No bubbles, no leaks.
But even then I was able to push the tire monitor reset to see if it would come back on. This time it wouldn't go off. I don't know how many times I pushed it, but it wouldn't reset. So I don't know if one of my tires may be low, cuz it was too cold to check since they all looked fine. I plan on checking the pressure on my way home... But dummy lights really annoy me. Especially big bright yellow ones that try to indicate something is wrong.
Anyone else having issues with theirs? I'm thinking it may be cold related, since it was 22 degrees with a 17 degree wind chill this morning. My windows wouldn't work at first either, but by the time I got to the gas station they were working again. Or maybe I have some electrical gremlins?

I had similar temps this morning and the only thing that I am noticing is that the display on the music system looses a few light bars until the car's inside warms up ... then all is OK ... no issues with the remaining electrics

I too sometimes get the light in this cold weather, but it always has been due to a low tyre. Does seem a bit strange that it won't reset. Is your traction light also on? I know there was an electrical problem with some Coopers that would cause both the traction and tyre lights to come on. Could be related to that. Hate to say it, but this may be a job for the dealer.
At the very least, try getting your tyres warm, then check the air pressure again. It probably won't help, but before going to the dealer, it always better to double check.

It's in an underground garage which stays about 50-60F in the winter, so I'm hoping on the way home it's not an issue. I do plan on seeing a dealer soon, and rechecking my tires often.
Are you sure the DSC and TIre light aren't on at the same time? I've had that happen and its a bad sensor. Resetting the tire light will NOT fix that. I tried because I thought it was a flat tire. Checked tires, all OK
The cold will cause your pressures to go down but that should be equal across all tires

Yeah, I'm sure it was Tire pressure only.
When I started my car in the afternoon, the light never came on. Drove 30 miles to Fort Meade, then 20 miles home, and no issues, tires look/seem fine.
Weeeeeird.

More than just a the sensor when it gets cold. Read this one.
