2007 MCSc & 2006 comparo

So what differences are there between the 2007 MCSc and the 2006? Does anyone know?

Some colors are discontinued in March (like Orange) while LY changes to MY.

I think there are some minor mechanical/safety changes as well. My 2006 cabrio was one of the ones that was accidentally given a 2007 VIN at the factory. When MINI was trying to decide what to do with the affected cars (about 150 of them), one of the options was just to re-build all of the cars from scratch, giving them correct 2006 VINs, and later sell the "mistakes" as 2007 models.

That option was nixed because even though the cars had 2007 VINs, they were built to 2006 specs, and didn't meet all of the 2007 safety standards.

So, while I don't know exactly *what* changed between the 2006 and 2007 convertibles, I'm pretty sure something did.

One of the changes I believe between 2006 and 2007 for the S is the CVT transmission. Ordered my 2007 yesterday and that wasn't on the 2006 S Conv.

The late 06 models did. And also the headunit face is a bit different.

I am pretty sure that CVT was never an option for the S. Either a manual Getrag or a six-speed Aisin automatic transmission with torque converter.

Of course one difference that I forgot to mention in my original post is the addition of a turbo charger in 2007 and the delition of the 2006 supercharger.

'07 verts are supercharged. They won't be turbo'd til '09

Not in the 'vert - still the supercharger last I heard (must make for some interesting production issues). And the MCS shoudl have the 6 speed auto option, not the CVT as previously mentioned

The 2007 and 2006 convertibles are both R52's and have the same engines.

I stand corrected. My MA did me wrong.
Well, at least I can stop worrying whether or not my bonnet air scoop is functional now.

Man, did your MA sell you a 2007 cabrio by telling you it would come with the new powerplant? Tell me it ain't so.

No, that's not what happened. I had already decided that I wanted the 2007 MCSc in Pure Silver with certain optional equipment and I asked if it was different from the 2006? I had already made my decision to order one. I did not want an MCS coupe, I'm not partial to how they look. (I'm trying to be polite.) So learning of the turbo was incidental to my decision, not part of the proximate cause of my decision to order the 2007.

The AUX jack is now standard in the 07 Cabrio and my 07 came w/ Goodyear run flats. Outside of some color deletions, the same as 06.

colors... and powerfolding mirrors are the changes.

also the addition of the sidewalk package to come in the near future...

as a side note...

the radio head unit was changed on late model 2006's. this also include and Auxilary input in the glove box standard.

Mellow Yellow is not available on the '07 cabrio. Strange decision but it's true.

You prefer the 'vert to the MCS coupe in general, or you just dont like the R56 re-design?

And what dealer did you buy from?

I think y'all are right. I picked my MCSC Hot Orange on Wednesday. Motoring advisor said there was no change from the '06 although I really like the AUX port
