JCW kit

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has heard news when JCW is going to discontinue the kit for the supercharged mini. I was hoping by the start of summer to get the kit installed in my car but am not sure if it's discontinued or what

The convertible is gonna stick around for another year or so. With that in mind, I figure the JCW kit will be around for a while.

I'm getting it installed in January. Although it's anyone's guess, when I spoke to the dealer, they thought it would be available for at least a couple more years, probably longer.

It's a high markup item; if you're going to have your dealer install it, I'm fairly sure they'll bend over backwards to get you one. Since it became a factory option, dealer installations have dropped dramatically; I suspect there will be unused kits floating around long after production is ended.

Truthfully, Boxsters are comparatively easy, depending. But... a friend with a modified 911 finally sold his in disgust...after I'd held with him repeatedly & shocked him a few times in 2/3 rd gear. His car cost nearly 4 X as mine & he didn't walk off & leave me like he expected. And that was with an MCS & before the JCW. After the JCW he just couldn't stand it, especially when the road got tight; " It just's not right!" Lots of reasons & variables for this, critics notwithstanding ahead of time for this post but, the liittle car always gave him an absolute fit. But be careful of your mark...

That is awesome a 911 man you must have had fun doing that and knowing your car's 4x cheaper than his.

As I infer, "Choose your battles wisely" & this involves many variables. But - as far as basic bang for the buck & a 'surprising' driving experience for everyone in attendance - you could do a hell of a lot worse than a JCW Mini, especially for the cost. The Mini's just a great car, win or lose. Just great, no matter what.

And when I say "bang for the buck," I mean via Mini. There's a ton of stuff out there that'll make you go fast for less, but the JCW kit is....just real good

In answer to your question, a JCW install is around $6000-$6500 (and that's including the 10 hours plus of labor). The kit itself is around $4700.00.

Yeah there's a-lot of mini tuning parts but i prefer the JCW becuase it's from the dealership and BMW approved so you know it will last long becuase BMW doesn't want some rinky dink tuning kit for thier car.

Thats not that bad, 6500 considering that you will still have warranty. and if something goes wrong with the kit it's covered, unlike say an m7 tuning kit or mini mania, in the end any repairs will add up to the 6500 and with the JCW it's covered right?

Do I have to

".. a friend with a modified 911 finally sold his in disgust...after I'd held with him repeatedly"

sigh ... but that line is SO good, I wanna go trolling with it over on rennlist.

BTW, if the 911 was built prior to 85 and OEM, a JCW IS just as fast!

DOWN Chowsie! SIT! Good boy.
You really want a laugh, go look at Focusfanatics. Some of the dimbulbs there claim to have smoked: F430, Z06, Mallett Cadillac...
in a stock SVT.
I was so flabbergasted, I couldn't even reply. Probably for the best, since they are (for the most part) a bunch of teen-age flamers who can't string 5 words together into a coherent sentence.

Well ... I just DID check out that forums. I guess people are the same all over ... How old are those ppl there ... they REALLY do sound like they are about 16/17? Nothing wrong with being that age ... wish I was

I like car forums and what did I read ... These pearls of wisdom:

"girls love fast cars!"
"Thats wicked cool." [wow, a 60s phrase]
"I've beaten 300ZXs, Mustang V6s, Camaro V6s, their always fun."
i enjoy eating ricers

and my personal favorite ...

"a kill is a kill"
