Pully questions

i have discovered a 2002 Mini S for sale, with 83,000 miles on it. All is good, except an odd grinding noise the supercharger pully makes. it does have an aftermarket pully on it, im having trouble figuring out what it is, and if it will cause trouble for me later on. Does anyone have any thoughts??

Are you sure it is not the belt tensionner? We had the same problem on my friend's car after pulley install and a new tensionner sloved the problem.

positive, he said he actually put a larger pully on it.....apparently it was to much power for him. Lol

What you want to do is remove the belt, and turn pulleys by hand to find the one making noise. I posted a thread awhile back with a bad supercharger, the gear drive for the water pump was shot. Last week I had one with a bad bearing in the tensioner, and a bad water pump that was transmitting alot of noise through the supercharger. You may want to take it to someone who kows MINI's well enough to help you figure it out and repair it.

Already done...it is definitly the supercharger making the grinding noise...it was surprisingly hard to turn....
